AD + winbindd(8): group permissions being ignored ? WTF ?
Hi all, I am successfully authenticating "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25 17:31:15 WST 2007" against AD. Users can log in succesfully with home directories being served via amd(8) and NFS. However, I have discovered a potential "show-stopper" that will force me to abort this mission :( The problem -~-~-~-~-~- In a nutshell: Simple group permissions set with chown(1) are

Default Posix ACLs not honoured
Hi all, we are experiencing difficulties with posix ACLs using samba 3.0.28 on a Debian 4.0 etch server. The goal is to not let the Windows clients manage the ACLs but instead set the permissions from the Samba server, hence smb.conf says "nt acl support = no". Problems arise when I have a directory with default permissions for a named group, e.g. # file: ACLTest # owner: juergen #

Samba ignoring group permissions (list files permission) for Windows 7 clients
Hi all, After updating a RHEL6 server I'm having trouble with Samba ignoring group permissions on directories. If I mount it under Linux as CIFS, everything works as expected. But trying to mount it with a Windows 7 client gives me problems. My shares are mode drwxr-x--- (750) with owner 'root.domain users'. If I try to mount it under Windows 7, I get "Windows cannot access...

samba3.0.23d group permissions not working
Dear all, I have samba3.0.23d running on FreeBSD 6.1. It is running with "security = ADS" and has been functioning correctly from about 3.0.14 to 3.0.22. Since I upgraded to 3.0.23(a|b|c|d) group permissions are not honoured by Samba. For example: drwxrwx--- 107 setup domain admins 3072 Nov 15 19:25 install The user setup is a windows admin user; this user can access this

Clients unable to get group policy...
The only Unix client I can think of would be the Buffalo NAS. It runs Samba3 and hosts various shares via SMB. DNS is handled by BIND9 on the Samba4 DC. DNS does work and the domain name resolves to the IP address of the server. DHCP is also handled on the DC. As for the GPO's, they're in the correct place as far as I can tell. In fact, the error in the event log says it cannot access

libPaths displays truncated path?
Hi, TL;DR ----- I define the path /cm/shared/apps/R/site-library/3.4.2 and add it to libPath. Why does libPath then display it as /cm/shared/apps/R/site-library/3.4 ? Long version ------------ I run a cluster of diskless nodes for which the OS is loaded directly into RAM and other software is provided by an NFS server. However, in the case of R, we use the R version provided

You and Louis confirmed my fear. MS recommended we use ".local" back in the day. This is an OLD domain. I now use ".lan" for my domains. Avahi is there, but I configured it to listen for ".avahi". If you want, I can post my avahi configuration. At least, this is what my memory says. Lead IT/IS Specialist Reach Technology FP, Inc On 07/03/2015 11:20 AM, Rowland Penny
