APPDB now appears to be working at normal acceptable speed for administrator login's + backlog of APPDB data requiring approval.
Thanks go out to whoever it was that fixed the AppDB so that it's now
running nice and quick again. I can now login and submit
applications/tests etc. There's a backlog of 500+ submissions which will
take 2-4 hours to clear, hopefully this should be cleared within the
next few days.

What determines DROP versus delay ("BACKLOG")?
HTB:
class htb 1:40 parent 1:1 leaf 40: prio 3 rate 358Kbit ceil 529Kbit \
burst 6Kb cburst 2260b
Sent 145871726 bytes 97293 pkts (dropped 69, overlimits 0)
rate 56741bit 37pps backlog 23p
lended: 77429 borrowed: 19841 giants: 0
I would like to increase "backlog" because I think that would decrease
"dropped". 23 packets of 1500 bytes each is only 34,500 bytes. IMO,

Determing the pfifo backlog
Greetings --
in the "Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control HOWTO"
chapter 14.1 on bfifo/pfifo it says that:
"you can use this qdisc to determine the backlog on your interface".
But it does not say exactly how.
Command [#tc -s qdisc ls] outputs the number of packets sent so far
but it does not output any info about the backlog.
My first question is whether a command

metadata cache corruption: cleared -> fixing in progress
Hi,
The big mess today in the 5.5/updates tree was caused by a cache corruption
in the master CentOS tree during the metadata creation.
<tech>
createrepo is run with the --cachedir flag. Something went bad :(
</tech>
The wrong cached metadata for the last updates (see centos-announce mailing list)
caused the issue you have all noticed today. We are sorry for that.

CentOS 4 update backlog
There are security updates upstream for CentOS (4 and 5)
and it looks like the CentOS 5 ones have been rebuilt
and rolled out. How come the CentOS 4 branch lags behind,
or are the CentOS 5 devs different from the CentOS 4 devs?
If more volunteers are needed I'm sure assistance could
be offered by the CentOS community.

Vandaman.

AppleTalk(netatalk)+Samba
Hi folks,
is anybody using those two products together and can give me any advice
on how to do this? My specific issue has been addressed in other posts
before, but as nobody responded, it would just now be interesting if
anybody at least uses those applications together successfully?

How to make sure self-heal backlog is empty ?
Mine also has a list of files that seemingly never heal. They are usually isolated on my arbiter bricks, but not always. I would also like to find an answer for this behavior.

Hello Icecast-dev,
I am new to this list.
I am working for the NPO, the Dutch Public Broadcasting agency.
We do a lot of icecast streaming. We run at least 20 icecast server
instances on our media streaming cluster.
We ran into an issue that clients which where connecting to our streams
seemed to be 'hanging' on the connection setup frequently. The client

External Journal scenario - good idea?
Hello everyone,
I've just recently joined the ext3-users list. I spent much of the
weekend browsing over list archives and other tidbits I could find on
the net, regarding using an external journal, and running in
data=journal mode. From what I have seen looking around at what other
folks are doing, data=journal with an external journal may be able to
help our problem here.

How to make sure self-heal backlog is empty ?
Hello list,
I'm not sure what to look for here, not sure if what I'm seeing is the
actual "backlog" (that we need to make sure is empty while performing a
rolling upgrade before going to the next node), how can I tell, while
reading this, if it's okay to reboot / upgrade my next node in the pool ?
Here is what I do for checking :

Hi Thomas,
I don't know if you like top or bottom quoting. That seems to be a
big-little endian thing ;-)
So, I will top quote and inline quote.
Please see my comments inline, below.

Contact information for samba.org webmaster?
I tried hard and failed to find any information about who is responsible for maintenance of samba.org. There are things on the site that don't work and I'd like to report them.
Sorry for kinda offtopic but there's no any clue on the site regarding where else can this question belong.
Please cc your reply to me because I'm not on the list.
Thanks!
