Windows groups in smb.conf
I've been trying to figure out the proper way of doing this, but
haven't stumbled across it yet.
For example, I want to give a windows group write access to a share.
[share]
write list = XXX
Should X be in the format of:
@DOMAIN\Group
DOMAIN\Group
'DOMAIN\Group'
What about groups like Domain Users which have a space in the domain name?
'DOMAIN\Domain Users'?

mangled filenames
Hi all,
I'm running Samba 3.0.31_1,1 on FreeBSD 7.0.
I have a problem where some files on the fileserver appear to have
illegal characters in them and so look mangled-up when viewed over Samba.
Here's an example, listing files over Samba:
rococo% ls PR
Archive
Awards
ACD76Y~N <-- Inhouse folder
AOBC8G~A <-- Outhouse folder
Listing the same files directly on the

Can't access shares from Windows Clients (Win2003 AD & Samba3 as Member Server)
This is my first venture into the world of Samba 3. I have a Win2003 AD
domain in native mode (no Win2000, NT4 domain controllers.)
My samba server successfully joined the domain. The problem I'm having is
when I try to access shares on the samba server from a windows client, I get
a Username/Password prompt. Giving my AD username/password doesn't work.
Tried all variations of my

POP - preventing re-download with server move
Hi,
Curious if anyone has any good suggestions to handle this.
I try to get my hosting users to use IMAP but most use Outhouse and
the IMAP support is somewhat annoying for many so I typically have
them change their settings when using POP to leave copies on the
server. That way when they get the inevitable virus or wanna use
webmail they have a backup copy and webmail sees their saved mail.

Dovecot 0.99.11 config
I am at wits end...So far it seems dovecot is light years ahead of UW-IMAP. Glad to have UW-IMAP behind me...well almost.
My setup = Sendmail 8.13.4 with Procmail delivery to /var/spool/mail/<userfile>
openssl 0.9.8
dovecot 0.99.11
I want to continue to use the standard mbox with all the user's mail stored in /var/spool/mail/<userfile>.

The bloomin' Irish
Let me first apologise for asking on two lists, but this problem is (of
course) urgent because prior to this afternoon I was unaware of the problem
and it has been affecting production users for two days despite me having
warned everyone that they should be looking out for possible Samba problems!
I have just upgraded most of our samba servers from 1.9.18 (various patch
levels) to 2.2.2 on

How to install programs in wine?
I am a rank newbie to Linux and wine.
I am running Ubuntu Dapper on an AMD 1800 mhz machine, wine 0.9.15
Everything I have read says use the installer to load windows programs.
Where is the installer?
Thanks,

str(p)
'data.frame': 9181

Firefox 2
Hello.
I use Centos 4.4 x86_64 with firefox 1.5.0.10 64 bits with nspluginwrapper and runs reasonable well.
I would like know if there is rpm packages for firefox 2.0.0.2 or 2.0.0.3 and if will run well under Centos x86_64 if someone has tried.
Thanks
Josep
