Samba-3.0.34 can ADS join but not non-ADS join.
I was using Samba-3.0.14a perfectly fine. Now, I'm trying to use Samba-3.0.34. I can do an "ADS" join fine with Samba-3.0.34, but I cannot do my old non-ADS join anymore. Winbindd starts and stays running fine, but when I run net to do the non-ADS join I'm running into a strange "interfaces" issue. It now wants an "interfaces" line in the smb.conf file when

Weird Samba issues
I manage a Samba server that has been working nicely for a couple of months (after it replace the old Samba server which worked happily for years). We use LDAP for accounts, but don't use domain logons or anything fancy. All users have their home dir on Samba mapped to drive 'M:'. In their home, there are symbolic links to various directories they're entitled to access. Links

NMBD Not Starting
I moved an entire RH 6.2 server from one CPU to a new one using a tape backup/restore. Everything from the old server is working on the new server, but when SysV starts up smb, the nmbd daemon (2.0.6) exits with an error: create_subnets: No local interfaces! eth0 has already started according to the logs and console. Any ideas? Thanks. ______________________ Greg Kelley, IT Director SSA, EAA,

nmbd over ppp
hello everyone. I don't have a network, but I'm trying to get my friend to dialin and use my shares that I have provided via smb. Now I have a big prob with nmbd and ppp. Under Interfaces I can specify ppp* 192.168.0.2 , which is the ip that the dialin user is assigned and yet still nmbd shuts down showing an error that no interfaces were found. # route -n Kernel IP routing

Samba 3.4.9 net rpc shutdown and XP Domain client
Hi @all, this is an very old problem, posted the first time 2005 to samba-testers at samba.org: If I have a Domain client with WinXP, which is part of a domain and using this client, if the PDC is not available and want to remote shut down this client with the net tool from other servers, then this is not possible, because net tries to authenticate against the PDC: testeis # net -d3 -S

Dear samba users: I am new on this list and know samba at a very basic level. I use openSUSE 42.2 Leap with its default samba 4.4.2 version. This is what I would like to achieve: I have a guest windows OS in virtualbox 5.1. Occasionally I have to print documents from this guest OS using my printer configured in openSUSE. netbios uses incorrect broadcast value and termintaes
Hi All, I am using samba Version 3.5.4 on AIX 6.1. The installation is through pware binary ( pware53.samba.rte 3.5.4.0). There seems to be a strange issue with NetBios where it terminates with the following error logged just after starting. Problem with network browsing
I'm trying to diagnose why my windows 10 clients can't do network browsing. The network neighborhood doesn't show any of my machines running samba. I've verified that all of my samba hosts are running nmbd! I've reached the end of my ability to debug this, so I could really use some help from the list to figure out why this isn't working. samba and darwin/macos x
Does anyone on the list have any comments or suggestions about configuring samba to run with MacOS X/Darwin? I recently inherited a G4 Powerbook and am having a blast playing with it. My story is that after loading the Apple developer tools it builds and installs fine. I can start smbd, but nmbd fails to start and gives the following errors that don't mean anything to me: [2002/08/19
