Windows 7 32 bit doesn't "upload" the profile to the server on logout but Windows 7 64 bit does
Hello,
I have a Samba 3 PDC running on SLES 11 SP3. All the machines have
joined the domain correctly, and users can log to their profiles
correctly.
On Windows 7 64 bits profile roaming works nicely without any problem
(login is just a bit slow and it takes about 45 seconds while logout is
really fast).
On Windows 7 32 bits profiles are "downloaded" from the sever correctly

share access problem with %G
Hi,
I learning samba on SUSE 9.3 linux box. I followed the Samba "Small Office
Networking" example to configure the server, but I have problem to access
the share "accounts" / finsvcs until I changed the valid users from %G to
@acctsdep.
Here are the output from the console when I accessing the share "accounts"

net use /home ?
Is 'net use x: /home' deprecated nowadays? I just upgraded a very old Samba 2 to 3.2.8 and suddenly no workstations at all can use that command to map to their home directories.
Workstations are W2k, Win XP and Vista in a mix. Neither work.
Samba use LDAP as back end, and the related posts in smb.conf are these:
logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U\.msprofile
logon script = login.bat
logon home

winbind debugging help.. act 2
Folks,
Not even a peep. Did I ask the wrong question or am I on the wrong
list? I don't mind pointers to more information....
I own both the recent books on Samba 3 and they are very good, but I seem
to be missing something.
Anyways...
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon,

Following symlinks
I'm struggling with following symlinks with samba on the recent
versions. I cannot use mount -bind as I've seen others suggest. This is
for my mythtv backend, so I'm using the rename script to create nice
names for the recordings.
Anyway, I can map the drive from Windows XP and Windows 7, and see
symlinked files, but I cannot open or copy them as I used to be able to do.

Windows 2000 (some sp2 / sp3) + Roaming Profiles + Samba PDC 2.2.3a (Redhat 7.3)
Hi,
This is my first post to the list, so iam hoping luck is with me :)
Ive run samba as a simple smb fileserver for over a year, but never needed to do any more than provide shares to users (who always use the same machines).
However Iam not in need of running samba as a PDC for some windows 2000 machines, and need to use roaming profiles. This is where the problem sets in. Ive set up a nice

XP Clients loose connection (offline files)
Hi,
I have an small network with about 50 Clients.
I use Samba4.0alpha14 als PDC and Samba3.5.4 als File- an Printserver on different (virtual) machines. On both machines a bind-dnsserver is running (master and slave).
The Samba3-Machine is configured as local master browser and as a domainmember of the samba4-machine.

use spnego question - samba 47 to samba48 migration
In Time.
Checking the services, folders and permissions, it seems samba48 does not follow exactly the same samba47 model.
When restarting samba47 by using "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba_server restart" I could see all three services being restarted (smbd, nmbd and winbind)
Now restarting samba48 I can see 2 services only (smbd and nmbd); The Winbind seems to be separated. I could not find

Detecting read/write permissions
Hi
I'm currently using a windows image processing application that
regularly writes the user's image adjustments out to a 'sidecar' file in
the same directory as the original image. When the original file is on a
local disk this works fine but when the original image is on Samba
share, the sidecars are not created.
The application reports the following in its log:

Samba 4.1.3 and MS-CLIENT 3
Hi all,
I have the following problem: I installed Samba 4.1.3
on my Linux computer. I tested everything via smbclient
and it works. If I connect my MS-DOS Client 3 to this
server strange things happens. Using
net use h: \\<sambaserver>\<username>
I get the correct (?) answer
H: connected to \\<sambaserver>\<username>
But using "H: dir" I get

connecting to shares in other subnet : slow
Greets, samba-users,
I contact this list because of a problem I face at a customer's site.
We run Samba version 3.0.28-0.6-1787-SUSE-CODE10 there on a SLES 10 SP2
server. This server is located behind a firewall (run by me), that
firewall allows all relevant Samba-ports through (137-139, 445).
The clients are located in a separated subnet, the routing between
client- and server-subnet is
