zfsacl and nfs4 settings
I am looking for where zfsacl settings such as, zfsacl: acesort = dontcare , are documented. Do I need NFS settings such as, nfs4: mode = simple , if I am not using NFS? If I do, where are they documented? Thanks

Cannot access HOME folder after upgrading to 4.8 from 4.6
Hello- I upgraded Samba from 4.6 to 4.8 on a FreeBSD 11.2 server. After the upgrade, users cannot access the HOME folder share but they can access other shares just fine. I am using the RID backend on this member server that connects to Windows-based domain controllers. I apologize for the lengthy smb4.conf but here it is: #======================= Global Settings

vfs objects - zfsacl
Looking to see if any one else is having this issue. Running 3.4.5 on solaris 10 with ZFS file system. When I add the vfs objects = zfsacl, Windows clients seem to fine but all my Mac OS X clients can no longer access folders on the share. They can mount the share fine but permissions are not being followed for Mac clients. "The folder "Name" could not be opened because you

getting newest version of dtrace

It''s quite difficult, though, to predict what DTrace features one will get when installing Solaris 10 (whatever release). There is nothing about the fine details of

zfs acls and MS office applications
I'm trying to use zfs acls in solaris 10. I've looked at past posts regarding this and some online help, but am stuck. I'm currently using samba 3.3.9; I've had the same problem with 3.3.7. samba is compiled and running as an Active Directory member server (compiled with ldap and kerberos). The zfs disk is local. I'm not using winbind. I compiled with zfsacl module.

Samba 4.1.11 crashes sporadically
Hi, I thought I should share this unusual behaiviour of samba 4.1.11. All of a sudden while I tried to delete a Folder via samba on a share it crashed. I was using Mac OSx's V 10.9.4 internal samba client (regular "CMD+K" mount via Finder). 3.0.1-member-server-printing
hello list, after successfully playing around to get a working samba 3.0.1-PDC-LDAP-Suse9 configuration a new challenge takes place : scenario: suse9 with samba 3.0.1 as a member server in a NT4 controlled domain. winbind works as expected (thanks to documention authors). There seems to be no problem with file sharing, ACL is working properly (I'm using xfs filesystem). :-) so, now the

Configuring aio_pthread
I'm trying to learn more about samba by experimenting with samba on FreeNAS. This involves a certain amount of reading how default smb4.conf parameters are set in FreeNAS and then reading the manpages for those parameters. Async I/O is implemented in samba in freenas via the aio_pthread VFS module. The manpage for vfs_aio_pthread states: "the smb.conf parameters aio read size and aio

Samba4 bug - "mount error(5): Input/output error"
Hi Rowland, do you maybe have any idea what could potentially cause this bug? smbclient thrwos me back a mount error(5): Input/output error when I try to mount the remote smbFS. It doesn't happen with my MacOSx and Windows 7 as client but it happens with Linux OSs and with a Konica Minolta copy machine with a scanner to samba function. The first try to mount fails with the above error.

How to enable both remote and local users?
Is there any way to enable both local (/etc/passwd or smbpasswd) users and users authenticated remotely by winbindd? I have a problem with samba-3.0.2a not recognizing local users at all, if winbindd is enabled (and vice versa, of course). However, I'd like to have local users take precedence over networked users, i.e. samba would let in a user, if he/she is a local one and only ask the

samba4 vfs objects don't work
Hi It seems the vfs objects are not loaded. I've joined the domain with "samba-tool domain join DOMAIN DC -UAdministrator%Passwort --realm=DOMAIN.LOCAL --server=windows-dc.domain.local --use-ntvfs" The modules zfsacl.so and recycle.so exists in /usr/local/lib/shared-modules/vfs But neither the ZFS module nor the recycler works. File permissions getting destroyed with M$ software on ZFS
All, Running Samba 3.5.4 on Solaris 10 with ZFS file system. I have issues where we have shared group folders. In these folders a userA in GroupA create file just fine with the correct inherited permissions 660. Problem is when userB in GroupA reads and modifies that file, with M$ office apps, the permissions get whacked to 060+ and the file becomes read only by everyone. I did

But, and there always is a but, if : * A user is a member of SomeGroup * and the share alllows SomeGroup to access it * and SomeGroup is NOT what the user has set as their Primary Group in Active Directory then * Samba will recognize that the user can access the share * but,

viewing, if not editing, NFSv4 ACL's from Samba shares
Good morning, folks. I'm involved in a project to enforce NFSv4 ACL's across a variety of storage platforms, in particular NetApps sharing NFS. That works fiine with the NetApp NFS qtrees, but we'd like to share those with CIFS clients as well. This works, and restricts access the way we expect NFSv4 ACL's to work, but the Windows clients cannot view any of the security settings
