I want to connect computers with windows xp (pro/home) to a one computer
linux (with samba). I want to every user who want to use his/her account

I''m trying to figure out why invocations to my Web service URLs work
with Rails 1.1.2 but fail both with Rails 1.1.4 (and 1.1.5) and when I
apply the new 1.1.2 security patch to Rails 1.1.2.
It looks like they are failing with SOAP clients but succeeding with
XML-RPC clients.

Problem with Samba 3.0 and Sun DS 5.2
Hello,
i have installed Sun Java Enterprise Directory 5.2
configured it for messaging and posix accounts
i can logon to solaris no problem
i complied samba with --with-ldapsam
i configured the smb.conf testparam check and report Ok
when i start samba no errors in messages
when i try to add smbpasswd -a root here is the error
No builtin nor plugin backend for ldapsam found

windbind or ldap ?
Hello,
I'd like to know if in a full samba environment is it better to use
winbind or ldap to resolve id's ?
users will connect from windows clients, linux clients with samba or
also with ssh and nfs maybe.

I want to find all the companies who provide a particular service so I''m

smbpasswd -w
Hi,
I try to set up samba (latest) to use LDAP. I get
# smbpasswd -w secret
-w not available unless configured --with-ldapsam
I xompiled with LDAP support. Any hints?

%L, subnets and dns resolution Xmas problem

Using the %L macro in smb.conf is for me *very* usefull, I can setup as
many logical servers as I need and that's great : no need for new machines,
I can switch logical servers back and forth, it's a kind of System
Administrator dream :-)
*But* I've discovered a problem with the %L macro in a subnetted

Ubuntu 20.04 setup

So, I'm working on a 20.04 setup.
I think I'll still use the distro version and not Louis' packages. [No offense Louis - I just need to be sure if (forbid) anything happens to Louis, his packages aren't going to be supported any more, and I'll be on my own for security updates etc. The 20.04 versions are pretty current, and I think will meet my needs for the
