amd64 installworld fails on syscons/scrnmaps
Hello, I have an amd64 laptop on which I did a fresh csup to RELENG_7. I did the canonical "buildworld", "buildkernel", "installkernel" and so far so good. However, when I attempt to "installworld", I get: ===> share/syscons/scrnmaps (install) ./armscii8-2haik8.mk armscii8-2haik8.tmp uuencode armscii8-2haik8.tmp armscii8-2haik8 >

Hi all... another lurker and first-time poster... if I forget something relevant please let me know... I am including (at the end) the uname-a from both of the systems. Each of them will compile

openssh 2.2, fbsd 4.2: incoming data hangs sshd on tty
This message is reporting 2 possible bugs: a possible problem with sshd from OpenSSH 2.2 on FreeBSD 4.2, and a possible security hole in FreeBSD's boot process (??) I am not an expert on these kinds of issues and therefore do not have the knowledge necessary to trace the origins of the problem to the extent that would probably be helpful. Nevertheless, here goes: Here is the physical

ALTQ and cpufreq(4)
Hello, I've met some quite strange reboots recently on my home gateway. I'm trying to reduce its power consumption, so I've loaded the cpufreq(4) driver, and enabled powerd. After this the box started to reboot randomly all over the place. I started to think what can cause the trouble, removing the cpufreq(4) support would be too trivial, so I've removed the ALTQ references from

powerd not behaving with an Asus A8V-MX and Athlon 64 X2 3800+
I have an Asus A8V-MX motherboard with an AMD Athlong 64 X2 3800+ CPU and I'm trying to run powerd to keep it cooler/quieter/greener. I'm running -STABLE (6.1-RC) cvsup'ed a couple of days ago, with a kernel config that consists of the SMP sample plus an atapicam device. I'm loading the cpufreq.ko module in /boot/loader.conf. I've attached my dmesg output and sysctl -a

STABLE/9 SMP ACPI suspend/resume - video mode not being restored
Hi, I'm toying with the SMP/i386 ACPI suspend/resume patches in -9. Thanks so much for this! I've noticed though that the video backlight stays off after resume. A common problem on -9, so I set hw.acpi.reset_video=1. That restores the backlight. However, the video mode isn't restored. I have my console set to VGA_80x60 and the resume seems to set it up "wrong". I get half

nforce2 usb is broken on -stable
Hi All, I'm running stable from August 19/2003. I've got a few A7N8X-Deluxe boards. One Rev1.0 and two Rev2.0. While the 1.0 board works, the 2.0 boards lock up on boot during the uhub0 bus discovery. It's extremely frustrating :) ... While I can boot without the devices and attach them later, the devices ( logitech usb keyboard, logitech mouse, rio800, samsung CDMA adapter,
