Can SAMBA work with 2008 R2 Read Only Domain controller
Hello,
?
We are planing to utilize Microsoft 2008 R2 Read Only Domain controller, and deploy RODC's in branches.
?
If I would like to have SAMBA servers in those branches, will I be able to add them to the domain (using "net ads join") and work with them, when using the RODC's as domain controllers configured in my smb.conf & krb5.conf?
?
I have looked around and did not

(no subject)
I had a test environment with a few hundreds of users using Windows 7 under
a samba 3 domain.
They had the registry tweaks required to join a samba 3 domain.
I followed the classicupgrade migration to samba 4 and everything seemed to
be ok.
In my scenario I have a DNS server different from the samba server, and the
DNS server forwards all queries to my samba domain to the samba server.

Asterisk and iBasis
Hi,
We are currently trying to setup Asterisk with iBasis. One question/problem we have is that Ibasis has told us to send the INVITEs to one IP address and all media to a different IP address. How can we do that in Asterisk?
Thanks

It seems that glances is not in EPEL for CentOS 8. Is that coming at some
point, or has it been deprecated in favor of some other tool?

Identifying US holidays
Hello!
I am trying to identify which ones of a vector of dates are US
holidays. And, ideally, which is which. And I do not know (a-priori)
which dates those should be.
I have, for example:
x<-seq(as.Date("2011-01-01"),as.Date("2011-12-31"),by="day")
(x)
I think chron should help me here - but maybe I am not using it properly:

"dtmf transcoding" with asterisk
Hi,
I am trying to configure asterisk to translate between rfc2833 and
inband DTMF.
I have a cisco gateway which is configured as a trunk, and a cisco IP
phone which is registered to asterisk. The gateway does not support
rfc2833 and the IP phone does.
I tried changing directrtpsetup to "no", and that didn't help. I tried
changing "canreinvite" to "no", but that

Win2003 ADS, wbinfo -u and -g almost works
I've been chasing this problem for several days. I have taken the
3.0.26a Fedora 7 SRPM from the Samba FTP site and rebuilt it on RedHat
EL5 and installed it. It runs, but it has exactly the same problem as
the original 3.0.23c version.
I can join the domain and 'wbinfo -t' returns OK.
However, 'wbinfo -g' returns only two groups then gives a failure
message and

ls permissions format changed in CentOS 8
When I use "ls -al" on a directory, for files with only owner read/write
permission, the displayed attributes are "-rw-", not "-rw-------". That
means the file names don't line up with other files in the directory, which
makes the listing harder to read. What changed where and how do I fix that?

password stuff
Greetings All:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween weekend (I carved 4 big
pumpkins and gave out a bucket full of rubber eyeballs and stuff).
I'm hoping somebody can explain the password behavior I've been
seeing (and a couple of other things). Here's my setup:
An isolated LAN (most clients have modems for dialling out) with
one linux/samba machine (RedHat 4.2, kernel 2.0.30,

rsync and locking
Hello,
I got an issue with rsync and (fcntl) locked files.
When rsync tries to sync a file that is opened and locked by another
process (that use fcntl write lock), it ends up in Disk Sleep.
Then i need to reboot to remove that dead processes (let me now if
there's another solution).
Is there a way to force rsync to skip locked files ?
Here are some facts:

Dailplan code for holiday detection?
This has been on my ToDo list far too long.
I have a small call-center setup, with basic
time of day/day of week validation before putting
callers in the queues.
With the holidays upon us, I need to add check to
see if 'today' is a holiday so I do not put callers
in unmanned queues. Due to how the agents work, I have
to allow joinwhenempty.
Does anyone have a snippet of dialplan code,
