Convince me to buy TextMate!
I got a Powerbook recently and am debating buying TextMate. I installed the trial and have checked it out, but don''t see what''s so great about it. AFAICS it''s the Ruby and Rails macros for expansion and other stuff that might be it. Other than that, TextMate seems like a pretty basic editor. I currently use PSPad and Editplus, and I could probably get/make macros

Keys used to sign releases
I see that some, but not all, releases provide a local link to the key used to generate the signature files, which makes it difficult for a script to use them to verify the signatures. Gcc solves this problem by including the following on their mirrors page ( https://gcc.gnu.org/mirrors.html): The archives there will be signed by one of the following GnuPG keys: - 1024D/745C015A 1999-11-09

beware nvidia driver + make world
There was recently a change to /usr/src/sys/proc.h, and after a rebuild of the world and kernel and subsequent reboot my system crashed and took some files with it. This was because I hadn't rebuilt the nvidia driver so that it used this new proc.h file. If you are using the nvidia driver, and do a make world, you may want to remove and reinstall the nvidia driver port before the reboot so

MusicOnHold starts magically for no reason
Dear list, on Asterisk 1.4.21 which is being used in a callthrough scenario - callers call via PSTN to a DID coming in via SIP and then dialing outbound via DTMF and the outbound calls get routed via some SIP termination provider - lately I see that every now and then MusicOnHold gets triggered like this on outbound calls: Started music on hold, class 'default', on

Hi, I am playing with LocalDiscovery again and have noticed that I do not see any LocalDiscovery broadcasts anymore. ZFS encryption?? - [Fwd: [osol-announce] SXCE Build 105 available
It was rumored that Nevada build 105 would have ZFS encrypted file systems integrated into the main source. In reviewing the Change logs (URL''s below) I did not see anything mentioned that this had come to pass. Its going to be another week before I have a chance to play with b105. Does anyone know specifically if b105 has ZFS encryption? Thanks, Jerry -------- Original Message

Make phone ring through webserver using Asterisk
What is the easiest way? And how can it be implemented? I thought to something like: 1. I request a page to the webserver 2. Perl sends to asterisk a number to dial (Perl and asterisk are running in the same machine) 3. Asterisk calls the phone or 1. A Perl sip client registers to remote asterisk server 2. LocalDiscovery detecting nodes through tunnel
Hi, I have tried the LocalDiscovery feature of tinc. The problem is that it also sends broadcast probes out the CPN interface *and* detects nodes on the VPN. A connection is then established through the tunnel, which effectively breaks connectivity between the two nodes. I do not think that discovering hosts on the VPN makes sense in any way. How can it be disabled? I could easily netfilter

Why no changelog & changes in the News
Hi all, I downloaded the newest package in the hopes of a changelog so I can ask for packaging in the distribution but there is no changelog in the Changelog. It was empty. The only thing which was relevant was in the News. Why the changelog is kept if its not gonna be used? -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal This email is licensed under
