Trouble pinging servers DNS name.
I can ping the virtual Linux servers NetBIOS name and access a share. Perhaps someone can examine the attached named.conf file for errors and/or omissions. My virtual Linux server (172.17.60.6) has been configured as a WINS server, and a PDC. I am not, however, certain how to configure it as a DNS server beyond what is in the attached named.conf file. Here are the results of pinging the

How does one use a Netbeui name to ping?
Hello, If I wished to ping a windows machine from a Linux box _not_ using the dotted quad address, how can I discover their IP name (using their NetBeui name)? * DNS is not running locally, (does it need too?) * There isn't a local domain, I imagine we're using our ISP's domain name (we're running the lan segment off a switch connected to a DSL modem/router) * Windows and

"no shared cypher", no matter what I try
Greetings, I have had to reinstall my email server on another Linux (centos 7.6) VPS, with a newer version of dovecot, other software and a brand new letsencrypt certificate just for email withpostfix and dovecot (that certificate works fine with postfix). Output of dovecot --version and dovecot -n on the new server is below. Now, messages ARE delivered in the right IMAP mailboxes, but when I try

unable to ping from guests in virbr0 to guests in virbr1 network
Hi all, I have 3 guests (2-RHEL4 and 1 RHEL6) and have some issues regarding networking between them. The 2 RHEL4 system's use default bridge virbr0 and get ip's of range 192.168.122.0/24 (192.168.122.207, 192.168.122.167) I created another bridge (virbr1) with NAT forwarding (no dhcp). The network i choose was 192.168.100.0/24. And the third system (RHEL6) was assigned static ip-addres

Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been working fine with previous releases of 6.x. Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network

host and vm on isolated network, there is ip (via dhcp) but not ping
Greetings, I've setup an vm with openwrt in it, defined a isolated lan between the vm and the host and booted the vm up. I see the vm is up, made sure the vnic is visible in both the host and guest and added it to the br in the guest. I've issued an dhcpd call on the vnic (labeled vnic0) in the host and got an ip, see: dagg@NCC-5001D ~ $ dhcpcd vnet0 DUID

答复: Is the "\\x.x.x.x" type tree connect request a client related feature?
Thanks for your attention, Gaiseric. Sorry , but I had a little confused. Did you mean that the problem was something relevant with the DNS? However in my impression, I might not do anything about the DNS. I have some clues that might be helped: 1) First of all, my samba server version set is "max protocol = SMB2", and the final protocol according to the negotiation result is smb2.10.

Cannot Ping after successful connection?
I apologize for the TLDR-style email, but I wanted to demonstrate that I have done a lot of work (11 hours and at least 8 tutorials including the tinc docs) before asking for help. My basic problem is this: tinc appears to properly connect and authenticate the client to the server, but I cannot ping or access resources. (yes. I know there is no 'server' in tinc, but 'server'

client VPN disconnects samba shares
I am running Samba 2.2.7a in domain mode .. all is great. I have a XP user on my local network that connects to samba as a domain user - so far so good. This users also has a Cisco VPN client for connecting over the internet to another application at a service bureau. When the VPN client is activated, all traffic from this machine is only forwarding network traffic over the VPN pipe. Obviously,

SIPURA SPA-2000 webserver dead after firmware upgrade
I just got a refurb Sipura SPA-2000 and was able to assign it an IP address with DHCP and ping the device, but then I ran the firmware upgrade utility to bring it up to spa2k-2.0.13g which seemed to work just fine, but after it rebooted I cannot connect to its webserver for configuration. I can still ping the unit. When I use the built in voice menu it reads back the right IP address, webserver

Now I know this is a centos mailinglist, and the system I am having issues with is proxmox ve 3.3 (debian based) but I am sure one of you guys faced this issue. So I am having an issue of no connectivity with my NICs. I have manually configured and I have tried dhcp. The OS sees the NICs loads the drivers, but I cannout ping anything on the lan. The

After joining domain, Samba uses the workgroup name, not the FQDN when running the net ads command
Great things to investigate... thank you. Ok, so everything is pingable. I've checked to make sure I can send TCP and UDP traffic between the hosts with netcat. > Does your dhcp server deliver the required info? For DNS? Yes, it tells the client to use 192.168.127.129. I'd be in a world of hurt otherwise! > Does 'hostname -d' return the fully qualified domain name of the
