Disabling roaming profiles...revisited
Hello everyone. Im having a issue with my server that im not sure if it is directly related to Samba or LDAP. I thought i'd post my thoughts here and see what everyone things... roaming profile unusable after smb ports = 139
Hello, I have a big problem with a samba setup. After I tried the config option smb ports = 139 in the global section, 90% of the roaming profiles are not usable by the windows XP clients. Removing the smb ports options didn't help. No errors in the samba logfile. erasing the profiles seems to fix the issue, but I cannot afford losing all my users profile data! here is my smb.conf.

Vista and Samba
I was just setting a Windows Vista machine up on my network and have the following problems. If the user logs into the domain, then there are no network drives showing. It is as if the script is not executing. If I logon locally with an administrator and then run '\\server-name' to get a list of drives, I can see them but nothing shows up in any of them except for two of the shares

ADS Authentication - CLDAP request failed
I have a RHEL 5 system, with Samba 3.0.33 installed, that _used_ to authenticate against the corporate Active Directory system without any problems. However, about a month ago the connection broke, but the users didn't complain until some time went buy. I've spent quite a few hours trying to reconnect this system, but nothing works. I do not believe it is a simple configuration problem,

Error Encountered When Running Roller Coaster Tycoon 2
I have recently been trying to install RCT2 on my Mac (OSX 10.5). I have attempted both Wine (1.3.9) and CrossOver, both of which hit the same error when I attempt to run the game: "The program rct2.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close." I ran RTC2 in wine using command line and it spit out the following information: Code: err:module:find_forwarded_export

profiles reverting from local to roaming
Hello, I have a shiny new RHES4 box running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E (as included in the Red Hat distribution) which is set up as a domain controller, using openLDAP and the IdealX scripts. User PCs are Windows 2000 and XP. We would like to avoid roaming profiles altogether, so we set "logon path =" and "logon home =" (with no argument to the right of the equals sign) in smb.conf.

mapped drive name question
Hi When mapping a drive to the samba server the share name that appears in Windows XP for instance is: Shares on 'Samba 3.0.23c-2.el5.2.0.2 (fs1)' (T:) Anyway to remove the 'Samba and version number from the name of the share so it's just plain: Shares on 'fs1 (fs1)' (T:) Thanks D.

[Samba 3.0.10] Trouble with roaming profiles: win XP clients 'network name not found'
Hi all! I have a problem and I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. Because of this I think it's important to tell the whole story... One of my clients has a small office network, where these used to be a Samba 2.x.x server using smbpasswd acting as PDC. A few month ago I installed a new server with samba 3.0.9 (now upgraded to 3.0.10) and OpenLDAP for authentication (as

Samba suddenly restart and replication does not works anymore
I'd check for differences in the ldap trees with samba-tool ldapcmp first If such are found try an manual full sync replication to fix the difference. I had an similar issue a while back and an deleted object on one dc caused such sigterm's. Had to get that deleted object out of the way afterwards the dc's where stable again.
