URGENT: Update issues from 3.6.6 to 3.10.2 Accessing files via samba come up with permission denied
Hi everyone, Is there anything else we could do to check on this problem and try to fix it? The issue is definitively related to either the samba vfs gluster plugin or gluster itself. I am not sure how to pin it down futher. I went ahead and created a new share in the samba server which is on a local filesystem where the OS is installed, not part of gluster: # mount | grep home ]# ls -ld /home

URGENT: Update issues from 3.6.6 to 3.10.2 Accessing files via samba come up with permission denied
Thanks for taking the time to look into this. Since we needed downtime due to the gluster update, we also updated the OS, including samba. We went from 4.2.x to 4.4.4 and many other packages for CentOS were updated as well. OS and samba updates were installed, then server rebooted, then gluster was updated. Created a new test samba share to minimize logs, etc: [VfsGluster] path = /vfsgluster

2.2.3a connection failure from XP to 10.3.4
Hello from a neophyte! Is there a diagnostic programme which can be run to determine if there are any faults in Samba 2.2.3a? I cannot connect from Win XP to my rev/b iMac (suddenly, maybe 'upgrade' to 10.3.4 had some effect) and the smb crashlog (shown below) has a pile of stuff which is incomprehensible to me. Secondly, how does one upgrade to another version of Samba and is this

URGENT: Update issues from 3.6.6 to 3.10.2 Accessing files via samba come up with permission denied
Hi, Over the weekend we updated a two server glusterfs 3.6.6 install to 3.10.2 We also updated samba and samba-vfs to the latest in CentOS. I enabled several of the newer caching features from gluster 3.9 for small file performance and samba, and we now seem to have some issues with accessing files from glusterfs. When users try to access some files, they get a Permission denied message. This

Revit problems
Good morning people, I try to create a master file on a samba share (Linux server, serving files via the Samba protocol). I have write-access on the folder and saving a 'normal' revit file works perfectly. However, when I try to save a master file (checking the checkbox in options), I get the error: Unable to write, it is read only or opened by somebody else. "Encountered

Segfault in Samba
Hi! My Samba setup broke after upgrading Samba from 3.0.5-1 to 3.0.6-3 using Debian apt-get upgrade. It seems to me, that the problems lies within winbind. Any help would be appreciated! -- Pirkka > The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, > was called for pid 8012 (/usr/sbin/smbd). > > Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which

Rsync over windows remote desktop
Hello, Not sure if any of you can help me with a rsync challenge I am having, but here goes. I am trying to get two Windows XP professional computers to synchronize using a windows remote desktop connection. When remotely connected to one of the computers from the other in Windows explorer the folders and drives of both computers are visible. However when I try to run a Rsync script to make the

[LLVMdev] nightly tester setup
I've noticed that my nightly tester doesn't seem to be reporting the results of running llvm-test, only build warnings and make check. Checking with -verbose shows that it's running the test suite, so I don't quite understand what's going on. Looking at http://llvm.org/nightlytest/ shows that none of the other Linux testers are reporting test suite results either.

Samba segment faulting - unknown cause
Hello, Recently our Samba server has started segment faulting. It happens occasionally, but is often enough to cause disruption. People notice thier network drives freeze, I am unsure of the cause of the segment fault, and have no experience debugging backtraces. Can anoyone lend a hand? We are running Samba as a primary domain controller with an Openldap backend on another server, both on

Run rsync through intermediary server with SSH
I'm using rsync, ssh, and cron glued together with Python as a push-based synchronization system. From a single location, I push content out to various offices. I log stdout/stderr on the master server to make sure everything is running smoothly. I would now like for some of our "regional hubs" to take on some of the load (bandwidth-wise), while still retaining my centralized

File sync/delete question
Hi, I need to solve a specific problem and I think that I need an extension to rsync for this to work :) I have an FTP server in the DMZ and a samba server in my intranet. The ftp server has an "incoming" directory, where people can put uploads and it is also running rsync in daemon mode. The samba server syncs the incoming directory of the ftp server every minute to make access to

Running commercial softwares on CentOS
Hello! How can I use CentOS as a complete desktop OS? I want to run Autodesk products on it like AutoCAD,Revit,3D Max,etc. Does Wine (winehq) support running such software? Can I use (KVM,Xen) virtualization to run Windows XP and all commercial software on it? Does running XP in virtualization requires a license? Regards, Rahul Tidke

Asterisk not working with session border controller
Hi All My company has bought a license for a session border controller called "Middle". It look like this software acts like a proxy and registers devices to the asterisk. the problem (As per Middle guys) is that "Middle" sends a registration request to the Asterisk asking it to reply to the port 7062, but the Asterisk sends back the packet to the originating port 7060.

[LLVMdev] nightly tester setup
Hard to tell what's wrong. Perhaps /usr/local/bin is not part of path for a cron job? You should add NewNightlyTest.pl -noremove -release options. That leaves the build directory around for you examine it afterwards. Just manually delete the build directory before running NewNightlyTest.pl. Upgrading from 3.6.3 to 3.10/3.11
I had a mixed experience going from 3.6.6 to 3.10.2 on a two server setup. I have since upgraded to 3.10.3 but I still have a bad problem with specific files (see CONS below). PROS - Back on a "supported" version. - Windows roaming profiles (small file performance) improved significantly via samba. This may be due to new tuning options added (see my tuning options for the volume below):

Samba 3.5.6 and Win 7 issues
I have a client that recently upgraded from Win XP to Win 7. They were seeing odd slowdowns and poor performance, so we upgraded to Samba 3.5.6 and enabled win 7 support "max protocol = SMB2". They contacted me this morning with a report of more strange behavior, names the inability to access newly created folders with the message "file is too large for file system". There

Fwd: Segfault in Samba
I have been forwarded this from one of our servers, which we have recently ( 2 days ) updated to Samba 3.0beta1 (Debian's 'unstable' package) from Samba 2.2.8a This is the second time it this happens in a period of 24h. Everything else in this server is working fine. Any comment on this? Is this a known limitation / situation ? Thanks in advance. J.L. ---- 8< ----
