Samba-3.0.23 problem
We had to power down all servers today for electrical maintenance in the building and for some reason I began having access problems related to the valid users lists when power was restored. The dialog from the 'Samba-3.0.23 broke my network' thread seemed as if it might be related even though I had not performed any software upgrade so I tried adding the group mappings as discussed in

Access share from client out of second domain
Hello, I have two samba domains and I want to let users of each domain connect to shares of each other PDC. As long as I use samba <=3.0.22 it works fine (DOM1\user1 is automatically mapped to DOM2\user2) , but later versions won't (DOM1\user1 is shown as DOM1\user1 on PDC2). How can I do this? In my smb.conf file, I set the "guest account" parameter to "netshare", an unprivialized user. I also set the "guest only" parameter to "yes" No remote computer can "cd" into the directory,

unable to log on to Samba shares remotely
Dear, I have a working Samba 3.5.6 running on one of my servers onto which (existing) users can successfully log on. Recently, I needed to add some projects and some users but I cannot succeed in letting these new users access the shares. The smb.conf file is very small and I had only 4 users until now. In the following smb.conf, projA_dirs is only accessed by user1, while projB_dirs is the new

Accessing multiple Samba shares
I have defined 2 shares in my smb.conf. When I try to access these shares from the NT box, I can access only USER1 home directory. For USER2, I always get the login dialog. I have used smbpasswd to add USER2, but still can't access it. How do I access USER2 account too? One other issue, is the umask for all the users on Linux is set to 027. All I can see for USER1, is some dot files. Nothing

I have a client with a linux server with samba installed and I've created users using the smbpasswd command (user1,user2,user3...) but when I go to the XP machines they can see the different shares but are unable to write to the folders or create additional folders based on their user1 and password. I want them to validate themselves to the linux server so that if their domain goes down they

Dovecot-2.1.14 - pop3 processes always hangs forever
Hello, I'm currently experimenting with the 2.1.x series and am facing a behavior I can't explain; I must be doing something wrong and probably miss the obvious... ;-) This is a very basic build on Mac OS X 10.8.2: ./configure --prefix=/_COD/dovecot-2.1.14 --sysconfdir=/_ETC --localstatedir=/_VAR --with-sqlite --with-ldap=yes (Yes, I know, a strange layout, yet very convenient for

scaling to multiple data files
Hello, I have logging information for multiple machines, which I am trying to summarize and graph. So far, I process each host individually, but I would like to summarize the user count across multiple hosts. I want to answer the question "how many unique users logged in on a certain day across a group of machines"? I'm not quite sure how to scale the data frame and analysis to

shared folder: messages become invisible
Hello, after dealing with shared folder within version 2.0 rc* I started using it with a group of users. user1 shares a folder to user2. user2 has access to messages of this shared folder. After a "random" time (minutes up to several days) user2 doesn't see those messages anymore. user1 (the owner) hasn't changed anything inside this folder. All messages are still in place

Dovecot "Mailbox sharing between users".
Hi I have appended the important bits of my server configuration to the end of this email I am trying to get "Mailbox sharing between users" to work. For starters it is very hard to follow the doc only https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/shared_mailboxes/shared_mailboxes/ without an actual example. I tried to use this (sorry in German)

Call history problems from B2BUA
Hello, all. Alas, another convoluted question. All the simple things are, well, simple so I suppose we only need to trouble the list with squirrely problems! We've noticed a call history problem when using Asterisk where the call history on the Snom phones (with which we are very pleased) reflects the number of the PBX extension used by the B2BUA to dial the end point. I assume the same
