URGENT! Need to move Samba to another computer
Since 2004, I've been running Samba 2.0.7 on a Solaris 8 computer as a member of a Windows 2003 Server domain - nothing fancy, just mapping Unix home directories to PC users. Now I must QUICKLY move this same Samba config to another computer, and (for the life of me!) I can't recall the steps necessary to "join" the domain. I've read the associated Samba 2.0.7 doc,

searchpaths
May I use "searchpaths()" with arguments partially matching file names that are found in different directories ? My question is whether this is th R function equivalent of Linux "find" or Windows "search". Both O.S. calls are given a starting point so that they search all diectories from then downwards looking for files whose names match the searching criteria.

Unable to map or view resources by name
Hi, folks. I'm in the process of setting up a RH ES3 box as a samba server in our Active Directory environment. I have kerberos working for user authentication, and can both log into the RH machine and map drives from windows clients using domain passwords, but the drive mapping only works if I specify the share name with the server's IP address: \\10.1.200.114\share1. If I try

Package installation in Windows
As a sys admin, how do I install packages so that there is one common library for all users of the MS Windows computer, instead of the default individual location for each user? I've done this for Linux. Thanks, in advance, for your help. Mike

Package installation in Windows - Urgent!
Thanks for your response. However, I need more guidance. 1) I searched the archives of this list back to June 1. I found no discussion on this subject as I examined all the subject titles for the string [Ww]in. 2) I tried (what I understand) to be you suggestion. I created etc/Renviron.site: R_LIBS_SITE="C:\Program Files\R\R-2.7.2\library:C:\Program Files\R\R-2.7.2\Packages" 3) As a

Future libao refinements
Just so people know what I'm working on (between physics assignments), here's a quick list of what's currently in the pipeline: * I received an IRIX patch which I am very excited about. I'll be submitting that shortly. * A month ago another user sent me a very small patch that improved ALSA performance on his machine. I don't understand what it does exactly, and would

smbclient, DFS and not_defined_in_RFC4178 [samba 3.4.7 and windows 2003 sp2 AND 2008 sp2]
Hi all, I'm trying to use DFS. Using smbclient 3.4.7 (distributed with Lucid) and windows servers with both 2008sp2 and 2003sp2. Smbclient successfully lookups up our DCC's. If the first in the DNS reply is a 2003 server it works but if I get a 2008 it doesn't. The main differences is that I get a "not_defined_in_RFC4178 at please_ignore" principal in the SMB Negotiate

You might try downloading the DLL to see if it works for you automagically; I think it's unlikely we will put in code to special case that version in the general release of R, as

Windows server 2003 SP2, SFU 3.5 and Samba 3.0.28
Hello list users, I have been struggling with this combination in the subject field couple of days now, so I decided to ask for some advice here. Hopefully someone can point me to a right direction. The ultimate goal for me is to authenticate users using AD, so that the UID/GID values configured for users with SFU would also be in use in all our Linux machines. My understanding is that using

Problem with W2K SP2 and Samba 2.2.2
Hello I have a problem with client in W2K SP2 (not with SP1 or NT4). I use a samba server (solaris 2.7/samba 2.2.2) and a PDC (NT4SP6). When a user open a session, the home directory of the user is not connected. But, after, if I connect a network drive, it is correct. So, I think that is not a problem of password (EnablePlainTextPassword = 1 on W2K and security=user on samba server). Can
