I've pulled the plug on viewcvs
While trying to get other work done on Motherfish-II, I couldn't help
but notice that machine load was over *200*, due entirely to the
viewCVS CGI. Either we were being DoSed via the cgi, or it's too
inefficient to even think about using.
Motherfish is a server intended for *core services only*. We've been
steadily forgetting that. Core services include CVS, mail and web.

Sourceforge CVS
The Shorewall CVS repository is now safely ensconced at Sourceforge.

at Sourceforge there is a delay in updating the ViewCVS (web) copy of
the repository. As a consequence, developer commits are not immediately

[PATCH] Pet peave then->than
This patch fixes all the incorrect uses of "then" that I could
find on the whole SAMBA_4_0 branch.
i.e. it is relative to
svn://svnanon.samba.org/samba/branches/SAMBA_4_0 at revision
16046.

viewcvs interface
I've added a web interface to the cvs repository (viewcvs). I find this is pretty handy for
tracking changes or pointing people at files for reference. Just follow the browse link at
the top of the main cvs page:
http://www.xiph.org/cvs.html
We used to have an (undocumented, I think) cvsweb interface, but it looks like it didn't make
it to the new server. Viewcvs is better,

overview of patches used in Fedora
Hi,
I have gone through the patches that are used in the Fedora package and
probably only the "mkcert-permissions" [1] can be considered to be
included upstream. It is dated into package version 1.0-0.beta2.3, but I
cannot find any particular reason for the inclusion (like a bug in
bugzilla, etc.). Some (winbind support, quota warnings) were obsoleted
by dovecot 1.1, two are used for

security bugs (?)
As a Cygwin rsync package maintainer, the following security fixes have
been brought to my attention:

How to use ZFS volume
Hi,
I want to use Samba with ZFS volume, although I know 3.0.25c dose not
work with ZFS volume.
And I found modules/vfs_zfsacl.c on Samba-3.0.26.
(
http://viewcvs.samba.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/branches/SAMBA_3_0_26/source/modules/
)
But I can't find samba-3.0.26.tar.gz on samba.org.
So, I have two question.
1. It is possible to download samba-3.0.26.tar.gz (or something another
which can use

Win32 services management?
Hi there,
I just saw samba added the "net rpc service" for Win32 service
management since 3.0.20, and it's fantastic. I used to use samba-tng
to do this job, but now I can use samba! However, I also found it has
limited usage. I cannot pass parameters when I start a service, and I
cannot create a new service, too.
Is there any plan for samba to extend this feature?

Name Resolution (Network Browsing) in Samba4 server with Vista Client?
Hello,
I'm trying to get a samba4 server to show up while "network browsing"
on a Vista client, but with no success. I've scoured the web and tried
many things, but most documentation is for samba3. I can however mount
the samba4 share using it's UNC path, but I really want netbios name
resolution to work.
With samba 3.0.28, as soon as I start smbd and nmbd, I can

Informix adapter for Ruby on Rails
We can now use Informix as back-end for our Rails applications. Here''s
the code of the adapter:
http://rubyforge.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/rails-informix/?root=rails-informix
It has been tested succesfully on Solaris 9/Informix 9.40/Rails 1.0.0.
Since Informix doesn''t allow quoting a value for a [CB]LOB in a query,
I had to override some methods of ActiveRecord::Base to accept a

Does Samba cache it's initial netbios name?
I just found out that when doing a new installation in works. But as
soon as I change the netbios name in the smb.conf the trouble begins...
Everything can connect, but then suddenly the error does appear. Does
Samba cache it's initial netbios name somewhere?

"parm" argument in confint.multinom () nnet package
Dear R users,
The nnet package includes the multinom method for the confint function.
The R Help file (?confint) for the generic function in the stats package
and the help files for the glm and nls methods in the MASS package
indicate that one can use the "parm" argument as "a specification of
which parameters are to be given confidence intervals, either a vector

ogg vorbis decoding
Hello,
I am currently developing a ogg vorbis decoding module for use in
winlame (a LAME frontend), and I have some questions:
To do a decoder I used most code in decoder_example.c, but I think
there is something missing. I would be glad if someone could look at
this code:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/winlame/winlame/source/winlame/wlOggVorbisDecoderModule.cpp

FLAC 1.0.5 beta1 released
I have an Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz sitting running all alone in my dorm
room while I'm at home for six weeks. I figure I'll run these tests just
to give the poor machine something to do.
Seeing as 3DNow! extensions seem to enabled by default, I'll give them a
whir. I'm running Debian unstable's latest GCC 3.2 prerelease as its compiler.
