here's a fix for Goldmine (and other ISAM database based programs) on Windows NT/2000/XP clients talking to samba
Goldmine seems to a compiled database application compiled in something likeClipper. Clipper applications record lock through ISAM like files (DBF). However, in Windows NT/2000/XP, Opportunistic locking is turned on by default in order to accelerate file transfer from file services. [Windows 95/98 did not Opportunisticly lock] However, opportunistic locking corrupts ISAM and ISAM like

Mount Windows Server Share as drive letter
Hello all, New to Wine, not so new to Linux but still a newbie. I need to run my Goldmine software on my Ubuntu machine, so I need to mount the drive letter that I use on my workstation (windows) to the share on my Windows server so that Goldmine can see its database and license file. I tried pointing the drive letter to the path using SMB://server/share but that does not seem to work. Please

Time To Pick the Mongrel BUGS Mascot!
Bradley Taylor shot me this *goldmine* of ugly ugly ugly dogs: http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/uglydogvote.shtml I *have* to use one of these for the Mongrel BUGS Mascot. He''ll go on our bug list page and replace the little beetles on the left. Pick the dog you think best represents a lovable but defective pooch and reply to this with your +1. smbd cannot be killed
Hello folks, I'm new to this list. Before posting this I tried to search the archives, but couldn't find anything relevant - so excuse me if it's been discussed already. I run a server with Archlinux and Samba 3.2.5 as PDC for ~30 Windows workstations. I have a share containing a CRM-like system with whole bunch of DB files and Windows executables (GoldMine). People run the

Samba vscan VFS Module
I'm trying to configure Samba's vscan on-access VFS module on a box with a working CLAM installation. [CLAM is merrily scanning mail on this box via clamav-milter]. I've set this up before, but this time it seems to be giving me grief. If I remove the vscan-clamav module then everything works, and I can open files. When I try to open a file with the module enable I just get a file

Goldmine DDE to Linux Wordprocessor
Hello, Newbie to wine. I have built a wine binary from source (wine-20031212). I have been able to get Goldmine 5.0 running well with this version of wine. Goldmine has the ability to perform a DDE interface to format some information and launch a word processor. Essentially, to fill in some macro pieces before opening a template. I can get the interface to work with OpenOffice.org

POP users complaining about multiple copies of mail
Hello, We just switched from UW to Dovecot for our mail server. The transition went smoothly, except we have some users complaining about their email clients re-downloading mail or getting multiple copies of emails. When we go into their accounts, we only see one copy of the email, so I'm assuming there's something odd in the communication between their client and us that's causing

CRM Application (Goldmine) on Wine
Good Day I am busy testing Goldmine 5.5 under Wine on Fedora Core 5. The program works well and it is going well. The only problem I have is that I cant send email from within the CRM package. All the settings are in the goldmine.ini files, but a user cannot send email. Does this have something to do with the interaction between Linux and Wine and the Application.? Where can I find log files for

Corrupt Indexs when running on SAMBA...
I have a stock Mandrake 8.1 server running with Samba 2.2.2. Applications like goldmine, ACT, or access etc... keep getting corrupted index's (multiple users using these applications w/ multiuser licenses). This does not happen on NT. Here is my smb.conf (NOTE the oplocks settings): [global] workgroup = NCPLA netbios name = NCP01A netbios aliases = Linux server string =

W2k connection problem
I have several users using samba as a server for their Goldmine5.0 database. All was fine until add a new computer with Widows 2000. Now they are having corruption problems with the Goldmine database. The problem never occurs unless the W2k computer is running Goldmine. One thing that I have noticed in the samba log reports that the W2k machine connects and then immediatly disconnects. However

locking db corruption with 2.2.5?
Hi, We are running Samba 2.2.5 on RedHat 7.3 rebuild with ldap support. We run Win2k Terminal Server, which provides most of the clients for the samba server. After a fairly long samba server up time (usually a couple of days, but this happened overnight), we end up with some odd entries in the smbstatus output in the "Locked files:" area.... Here is one line of the type I mean:

Asterisk Call Manager for Windows 0.0.1 (Alpha)
If anybody is interested, I have an early version of my Call Manager for Windows application integrated with Asterisk. CMW is an application bar (like the task-bar) that docks to the top of your desktop window. It provides the following functions: 1. View Call-Related Information (Caller ID, Call State, Call Direction) 2. Monitor Status of Asterisk Stations (Channels) -- BLF or "Busy

Errors related to Samba in httpd log!
Hello list First and foremost to any developers listening - thank you for Samba - it is just brilliant. Apologies - this is a long post... I am not getting complaints about logon problems from users but I have noticed in /var/log/httpd/error_log, entries like the following for a few users when their logon scripts map drives to shares. Looking back I can see that it has been

Shares disconnect on XP when Offline Files enabled after migration from v2.x to v3.0.7
Issue: Three WinXP Pro boxes using Offline Files disconnect from all Samba shares when a user either performs a synch or accesses a file on the share with offline files enabled. About half the time, being able to reconnect for any length of time requires a reboot of the WinXP machines. Disabling the Offline Files in Windows alleviates the problem. Background and Network
