Has anyone got unix password sync for samba3.0.x running successfully on SLES8 server? Do I need the SLES service packs? Is there an interaction with PAM that I need to be aware of? I've compiled the full developer build of samba from 3.0.4-4 source. Compile was successful. I'm running tdbsam as password backend. I've troubleshooted quit a bit using google, docs, etc. as

Error: Incorrect password length
Hi, I just upgraded my server to support Windows 7 and so installed Samba 3.5.4 from 3.2.5. OS is Debian Lenny. Now my Windows XP clients cannot join the Domain. When joining the Domain, I get a wrong password error on Windows. In my samba logs it shows the following: [2010/08/03 12:10:19.681501, 0] lib/util_sock.c:1432(get_peer_addr_internal) getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint

Samba3 + LDAP - w2k says it couldn't change password (but it did)
Hello, I have a following test environment: 1) Samba PDC + OpenLDAP Slave (192.168.1.2) 2) OpenLDAP Master (192.168.1.1). Whatever is changed/added on the Master, it gets replicated to Slave. Now, when a user is logged in, and tries to change the password - he/she must supply the old password, and twice new one (normal behaviour). After pressing OK the user is said that the password

Problems with userPassword when it's base64 encoded
I'm switching from OpenLDAP to the newly released Fedora Directory Server (formely known as the Netscape Directory Server) as a LDAP backend for my Samba domain. I'm now faced with a problem regarding how Fedora DS handles the userPassword field. Unlike OpenLDAP it encodes it in base64 so instead of reading userPassword: {SSHA}0lP+r3Z1NVan7Caf4CG9oSgnTbQRrv/p it reads: userPassword::

3.0.1rc2 LDAP - problems joining domain
Hi, I'm back on the list ;-) I seem to be having some trouble getting W2K machines to join the domain in 3.0.1rc2. I haven't looked at this in detail since 2.2.8a but it looks like the account gets created in LDAP and then it has trouble setting the password appropriately. I believe this is the relevant part of the log: api_rpcTNP: samr op 0x3a - api_rpcTNP: rpc command:

Hello, I have problems connecting notebooks over wireless LAN to Samba 2.2.3a. I don't know, wether this is a problem about wireless LAN or a problem about subnetting (or an other reason). I use Windows 2000 at the notebook (first without service packs, then with service pack 2, but it don't solve the problems). Samba server is in net 192.168.20.0 and the notebooks are in net

Problem joing a W2KSP1 client to a Samba PDC (2.2.5).
Hi, I'am running a small samba server at work with 10+ users in the domain (all of them added with W2KSP1 and 2.2.3 or 2.2.4). I uppgraded to 2.2.5 a while back and has not experienced any problem with it, but when I try to add a newly installed W2KSP1 client to the domain I get the following entries in the log file: Sep 10 13:29:55 linus smbd[17681]: [2002/09/10 13:29:55, 0]

decode_pw_buffer: incorrect password length
Dear list, I have a pretty small samba setup with one samba server acting as PDC and 6 pretty diverse clients. I had no problem joining two win98 clients and one XP client and two win2000 clients to the domain. There is only one win2000 client which I simply can't join. In the samba logs I find decode_pw_buffer: incorrect password length whenever I try to join this PC using the root user.

SOLVED Can't joint domain per LDAP slave servers
Strange. Both systems are Linux. I compiled the LDAP slave Samba with CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686" and SuSE's GCC 3.3.1. The fine working master got the same CFLAGS but SuSE's GCC 2.95.3. Without CFLAGS the GCC 3.3.1 works fine too. Didn't know that optimization (and GCC>3) is that dangerous.... Thanks anyway Daniel ------ Hi! We have a replicated LDAP Samba network. I

Password problems with Samba-3.0.4
I'm apparently not the first person to have this problem, but I can't find a fix for it anywhere on the web, or in Usenet. Here's the scenario: I upgraded from 2.2.8a to 3.0.4 during a recent hardware move. All of my client machines are connecting properly, but my users can't change passwords from their WinXP clients now. (Client error message is "bad username or incorrect
