LSI software raid with centos 5.4
Hi, I have been trying to install CentOS 5.4 on a Intel SR1530SHS, Intel S3200SH mainboard.. It has a 3 x 1TB sata hotswap drives with LSI software raid onboard. I had configured the LSI to have Sata0 and Sata1 with raid 1 and the third drive as a hotspare drive. Format the harddisk and installation was a breeze. The server rebooted into a blank screen and the cursor just keep blinking. Please

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if

OpenSolaris ZFS NAS Setup
If it''s of interest, I''ve written up some articles on my experiences of building a ZFS NAS box which you can read here: http://breden.org.uk/2008/03/02/a-home-fileserver-using-zfs/ I used CIFS to share the filesystems, but it will be a simple matter to use NFS instead: issue the command ''zfs set sharenfs=on pool/filesystem'' instead of ''zfs set

Intel RST RAID 1, partition tables and UUIDs
the main advantage I know of for bios fake-raid is that the bios can boot off either of the two mirrored boot devices. usually if the sata0 device has failed, the BIOS isn't smart enough to boot from sata1 the only other reason is if you're running MS Windows desktop which can't do mirroring on its own On Mon, Nov 16, 2020 at 10:23 AM Jonathan Billings <billings at

Interrupt storm when disconnecting sata drives in 7.0-RC2 and 6.3
I've tested both 6.3 and 7.0-RC2, amd64 architecture, and have found the occurrence of an interrupt storm using an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (nForce 4) motherboard with an AMD Opteron 175. Relevant dmesg output: atapci0: <nVidia nForce CK804 UDMA133 controller> port 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6,0x170-0x177,0x376,0xf000-0xf00f at device 6.0 on pci0 ata0: <ATA channel 0> on atapci0 ata1: <ATA

lost at 'repository' entry installing centos7

Sounds like he is doing a network install, and is looking for the network path that must be supplied in order to do the install. If he doesn't have a local repository, then he has to supply the first part of the path (e.g. http://..../xyz/ ) and he has to stop at the directory level above .../7/ or some such. I

Software RAID1 with CentOS-6.2
Hello, Having a problem with software RAID that is driving me crazy. Here's the details: 1. CentOS 6.2 x86_64 install from the minimal iso (via pxeboot). 2. Reasonably good PC hardware (i.e. not budget, but not server grade either) with a pair of 1TB Western Digital SATA3 Drives. 3. Drives are plugged into the SATA3 ports on the mainboard (both drives and cables say they can do 6Gb/s). 4.

Intel RST RAID 1, partition tables and UUIDs
I have been having some problems with hardware RAID 1 on the motherboard that I am running CentOS 7 on. After a BIOS upgrade of the system, I lost the RAID 1 setup and was no longer able to boot the system. Testdisk revealed that the partition tables had been damaged and because I had earlier saved information from fdisk, I was able to recreate the partitions. However, booting into the BIOS and

Plugging in a hard drive after Solaris has booted up?
Hi guys, I have a quick question, I am playing around with ZFS and here''s what I did. I created a storage pool with several drives. I unplugged 3 out of 5 drives from the array, currently: NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM gpool UNAVAIL 0 0 0 insufficient replicas raidz1 UNAVAIL 0 0 0 insufficient replicas c8t2d0 UNAVAIL 0 0

lshw in centos 7 withdrawn
Warren Thanks for the thoughts. Even with 'dmesg', I found nothing. The reboot got rid of the problem and it continues to run perfectly in the same configuration. I, too, have a slight dislike for external USB disks, and much prefer internal drives for esveral reasons: - Internal drives are protected by being inside a tower and thus have less chance of falling or being bumped than

Ext3 and 3ware RAID5
I run a decent amount of 3ware hardware, all under centos-4. There seems to be some sort of fundamental disagreement between ext3 and 3ware's hardware RAID5 mode that trashes write performance. As a representative example, one current setup is 2 9550SX-12 boards in hardware RAID5 mode (256KB stripe size) with a software RAID0 stripe on top (also 256KB chunks). bonnie++ results look

Permissions problem
Hi everyone (oh yeah, and I am new to the list but have a little Samba experience). I have a Samba 3.0.1 install on a Fedora Core 1 (.2138 kernel non-smp - not that it should matter for this). I have created a group called "osla" for the users in my domain and I have Samba working properly as a PDC, or at least properly in so far as I can join clients to the server, run scripts and

Re: Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
Hi, I found the main reason for sound distortions on my system is guest timer configuration. The working one is: <clock offset="localtime"> <timer name="hypervclock" present="yes"/> <timer name="hpet" present="no"/> <timer name="rtc" present="yes" track="guest"

flintlock issues
Hi people I'm running Xapian (1.0.9) and more specifically omega to index a few different databases. After the databases are first indexed (by user A), the dirs get chmod'ed to 0777 to allow user B full access to them. Even after the indexing is done, the file "flintlock" still exists in all database dirs. It's owned by user A (perm: -rw-------). When user B wants

Which CPU is installed on Compute Node && how much RAM ? Actually , my concern is :- Number_of_ Cloud_VMs versus Number_CPU_Cores ( not threads) Please, check `top` report in

INBOX can't be deleted
Hi, surely it can't and it shouldn't. I'm just wondering why a check for "INBOX" is done in src/imap/cmd-delete.c AND src/lib-storage/index/maildir/maildir-storage.c. The first is clear because it gives an imap-error to the client. But for which case is the check in maildir-sorage.c? Just to be absolutely sure? The reason for me to ask is, because I need to disable
