Looking for samba user statistics
This system is running for a while, using Redhat 7.2 and Samba 2.2.3.
Question: Before I completely reinstall this system, I would like to
get some samba statistics from this system.
Can anybody point me in the right direction on how to do this.
Thanks

Custom "Windows Welcome message"
Hello - I running Samba as a PDC on FC6 with roaming profiles. I need to setup a custom Windows logon/welcome message... to tell users want they can expect using this domain. Is it also possible to place different PDF files on the users desktop when he or she logs on, but only referencing one source file, so I don't have a copy for each user?
What is the best approach?
Thank You.

Upgrade 3.0.24-3.fc5 to 3.0.24-4.fc5 Anomaly
As part of our deployment of FC updates we have upgraded our office
server from 3.0.24-3 to 3.0.24.4. We got some strange results.
Shares that have the same name as the users home directory and/or the
same name as their users id became inaccessible. For example, my user id
is kens, my home directory is in /home/kens and there was a share of it
called kens. There is also a common share

64 Bit XP client unable to add ACE on 3.0.24 Samba Domain member server
Hi all-
I searched quite a bit and couldn't really come up with anything, so I'm
posting to the list to hopefully find out if I have any options.
I've got a production FC6 box running 3.0.24-7.fc6 build of samba server
that's very stable for us. It's a member of an ADS domain w/ server 2003
domain controllers.
Recent 64 bit windows XP pro boxes are having the exact problem

Problems with Samba Authentication (samba.i386 0:3.0.24-4.fc6 or 3.0.25rc1)
Hi folks,
Be gentle - first time I've posted to this list! ;-) I'll try and be
complete. If I missed something, please let me know. I've googled and
found some information, but nothing *quite* relevant.
Running Fedora Core 6. Been using Samba for a long time, it's always
been problem free. Since the Fedora upgrade to 3.0.24-4.fc6 (I know

O-ring statistic in R?
Hi
Thorsten Wiegand used in his paper Wiegand T., and K. A. Moloney 2004.
Rings, circles and null-models for point pattern analysis in ecology.
Oikos 104: 209-229 a statistic he called O-Ring statistic which is
similar to Ripley's K, only that it uses rings instead of circles.
http://www.oesa.ufz.de/towi/towi_programita.html#ring
Is this statistic included in one of the packages in R?

winxp samba problem
Greetings,
I have a newly loaded WinXP/SP2 laptop connecting to a FC6 samba share. The
first 2-3 accesses to the share work fine but then it goes south.
The access times are extremely long. I did a tcpdump on the FC6 box and see
constant samba traffic between the laptop
and the server when there is no actively on the laptop. I have a different
laptop running WinXP which doesn't behave

NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME
I am trying to run Samba 3.0.24-11.fc6 on Fedora Core 6. I've run across
two problems that are keeping me from being successful.
1. IPTables. Even when I configure it through Webmin to not run at
startup, it does anyway. I consider this a minor problem, at least for now,
although I wouldn't mind some input on how to configure it to allow Samba.
2. Access to shares. We are running

Samba version: 3.0.24, 3.0.23 (binary packages for FC6)

Solaris 9 Samba 3.0.24
I'm currently running samba 3.0.20a
I can configure and make 3.0.20a with no problem
I run the same configure command on the 3.0.24 source, configure works
fine, but make returns the following.
( and just to test if a patch screwed me up I tested configuring and
making the 3.0.20a version again, and it worked as it should )
Any bugs with 3.0.24???

Can't access shares
Running FC6 and Samba 3.0.24-11.fc6.
Workstation is XP Pro
Initially, after disabling SELinux and turning off Iptables, I could access
the shares that were set up. Came in this morning ready to start copying
files and can't get in. Prompts me for a username and password which is
rejected. I know it's not my workstation because I have another FC6/Samba
server running and have no problem

Big problems with 3.0.24-6etch6 Debian packages
Hi,
I'm using Samba as a PDC with roaming profiles on a Debian Etch machine,
the clients are Windows XP/2000 machines.
I just installed security upgrades with aptitude, and this upgraded all
samba 3.0.24-6etch4 packages to 3.0.24-6etch6 (except for samba-doc
which was upgraded to 3.0.24-6etch7).
Immediately after the upgrade, my users could not load their profiles at
login anymore. Errors

Samba idmap against ad
Hello,
I have a samba server (old - running FC6, samba 3.0.24-11.fc6) that
authenticates against AD. This is all configured and has been working fine
until this week.
A new user has been added to AD, but cannot access the samba drives. All other
users can still access samba as normal.
net ads testjoin reports OK.
wbinfo -a newuser%pass and wbinfo -K newuser%pass both succeed. wbinfo -r
