Trouble adding samba server to a domain
I'm trying to add a samba server to our company network. ?The samba version is 3.0.10 running on Fedora Core 1.
The problem I'm having is the Windows PCs (XP and 2000) that are trying to connect to the server won't recognize the hostname of the server - only the IP address. ?For example, putting in \\192.zzz.yyy.xxx will display the shares just fine, but putting in the hostname

Problem with mapping, userid that gets sent by NT
I am having a problem with mapping drives to a samba server (1.9.18p4 and
1.9.17) that is very reproducible. The 1.9.18p4 is a modified server that
has some special krb5 support in it (in addition to the stuff you
previously added that I sent you).
Here are two examples that are repeatable. Each is preceeded by killing
any samba daemons that are for connections from the host in question.

Samba 3.0.0 can't join ADS domain
I'm installing Samba 3.0.0 on a RH9 system for the
first time. I've gone through the doc and I believe
that I've done everything correctly, but when I try to
issue a "net ads join -U myuserid" command, I get no
response. No errors, just nothing. When I do a klist
I can see the credentials for "myuserid" but nothing
else. If I do a "net rpc join -U

SIP Redirect from Asterisk behind a NAT
SetUp:
- Asterisk behind a NAT,
- Red Hat 9.0
- Asterisk 1.2.14
My Asterisk box is behind a NAT and I have a DiD from an ITSP. I have my
dial plan set up so that when outside callers dial the DiD, the call is
answered by my auto-attendant. The caller can then select who they'd like
to speak to and the call is transferred to the external line associated
with that person (usually a mobile

fetchmail SSL protoco; issue
I am using fetchmail to collect mail from some secondary mail accounts,
among which is hotmail.
So far I have used hotwayd to fetch the mail from hotmail using
httpmail. Hotmail now supports pop3 access, so I decided to change
fetchnail to fetch the mail directly over pop3.
This works, but whatever I try, I get an error message when I run
fetchmail:
Invalid SSL protocol 'SSLv23'

Intermittent failure when placing calls - unable to create channel of type SIP
Hello community,
I've been running Asterisk on an embedded device for about six months, and
my operation has been largely trouble-free. I'm hoping I could get some help
with a minor problem:
Every week or three, my PBX gets stuck in a state where it can receive
calls, but it becomes completely unable to originate outgoing calls until I
do a "sip reload". After doing the SIP

Asterisk@Home and iax.cc / sixTel
Hi,
How is iax.cc / sixTel to be configured as a termination provider in
asterisk@home?
The iax.cc / sixTel instructions tell you to do this:
iax.conf:
------------
[sixTel]
type = friend
host = iax2.sixtel.net
context = inbound
secret = mypassword
allow = all

Maximum likelihood for censored geometric distribution
Hi all,
I need to check for a difference between treatment groups in the
parameter of the geometric distribution, but with a cut-off (i.e. right
censored). In my experiment I stimulated animals to see whether I got a
response, and stopped stimulating if the animal responded OR if I had
stimulated 10 times. Since the response could only be to a stimulation,
the distribution of response times

rsync over commercial SSH?
I get the following error running rsync 2.5.2 on AIX 4.3 in combination
with SSH Secure Shell 2.3.0.
> rsync -e ssh myuserid@localhost:/tmp
myuserid's password:
/bin/ksh: rsync: not found.

This is using the SSH Communications Security Corp version of ssh. I also
get the same error talking to another host which is also running commercial
ssh.

Rsync won't be quiet
I'm using rsync to mirror a big CVS repository. It's version 3.0.2
at both ends. Cron runs rsync every 12 minutes. I would like to get
no e-mail from cron if the transfer goes with no errors. Instead I
get a message every time there is an update, with a line for each file
transfered.
On the server the rsync is initiated with a command like this:
/usr/local/bin/rsync -aqzC --delete

Servreg $loglik
Dear R-experts:
I am using survreg() to estimate the parameters of a Weibull density having
right-censored observations. Some observations are weighted. To do that I
regress the weighed observations against a column of ones.
When I enter the data as 37 weighted observations, the parameter estimates
are exactly the same as when I enter the data as the corresponding 70
unweighted observations.

Polycom instant messages
I didn't know that instant messaging was a feature with the Polycom's. Do
you have any documentation, how-to's, etc. that you can point me to? That
would be just way too cool.
Thanks;
John

Phantom message using mixed namespaces
Hi, all.
At home, I have a mailbox where mbox is the default (for inbox and some
smaller mailboxes) and all my lists are in a Maildir format.
I'm building a mailstore server at work where I want to use Maildir as
the default mailstore, but I want to keep mbox on the side to aid in
archiving messages.
My configs are as follows for mail location and namespaces:

Survreg(), Surv() and interval-censored data
Can anybody give me a neat example of interval censored data analysis codes in R?
Given that suvreg(Surv(c(1,1,NA,3),c(2,NA,2,3),type="interval2")~1)
works why does
survreg(Surv(data[,1],data[,2],type="interval2")~1)
not work where
data is :

How to maintain class signature in splom
All,
I was having trouble trying to create a new class of data and pass it on to splom (in the lattice library). I mentioned this to Martin Morgan after a talk he gave. Following is not so much a question, but rather an answer from Morgan that might be useful to others. Here is the edited part of an email conversation with him:

VOIP in Japan using Freebit
Has anyone had any experience using a VOIP provider in Japan?
No matter what I try, my REGISTER string kicks back one of 2 errors:
Got SIP response 481 "Call/Transaction Does Not Exist" back from x.x.x.x
or
Got SIP response 400 "Bad Request" back from x.x.x.x
My register string is as follows:

RODBC SQLSave
I am having the following problem with RODBC
I connect to an oracle 8i (8.1.7) database using RODBC as follows;
dbConn <-
odbcConnect("mydatabase","myuserid","mypassword",case="oracle")
Then I extract some data, actually a whole table;
orgdata <- sqlQuery(dbConn, "select * from organism", na.strings = "NA")
Then I try to save it
