Hello,
I have Samba setup with as a domain member server (security = ADS).
wbinfo -g works
wbinfo -u works
getent passwd works
getent group works
There is a directory name /dir/shared with the following permissions.
drwxrwxrwx 2 root users
The information shows up fine in Windows on the security tab
root (Unix User\root)
usesrs (Unix Group\uses)
Now, I go into the Linux

Owner/Permissions and winbind
Hello,
I have two Samba Domains and each trust each other (PDCs run 3.0.22). Also
I have a samba member server (3.0.24) that runs winbind. When I use wbinfo
I can see the user and groups of both domains. I also can chown/chgrp
files with users of the domain the server is member of. But I can`t
chown/chgrp with accounts of the trusted domain. chown doesn`t work at
all. chgrp works, but then only

Auth checking also the service
Hello everyone. I'm switching to dovecot from courier-imap and after some
problems with Apple Mail client, now everything seems to be fine.
The only problem that I have not solved yet is to check also the service
(pop3, pop3s, imap, imaps) in the authentication phase.
In courier-authlib I do this:
MYSQL_SELECT_CLAUSE SELECT username, \
password, \

III Jornadas de Usuarios de R (Madrid - 17, 18 Noviembre 2011)
Hola.

DDNS, DHCP and AD
Looking for general theory here - perhaps this will devolve into more "how
to" later, but right now I need overall understanding.
We handle DHCP outside AD. We also do DDNS there, and handle DNS lookups.
Here's what the current setup looks like
We have a pair of DHCP servers (ISC DHCPD) and those same boxes handle DNS
for the network. They're in the DNS domain of, lets say;

Performance Issue on Samba 3.023d with many small files
I am transmitting many small files from Windows 2000 to Samba as
AD-Member Server with a Gigabit LAN Adapter.
Transmitting a large number of small files brings performance down below
80 Kbyte/s.
How can I work around this?
How can I identify what makes Samba so slow (and set-up Samba parameters
better if it is a configuration issue?)
Has there been some performance boost in some later release

Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-11
Could not convert sid S-1-5-11 to gid
# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13
Could not convert sid S-1-5-13 to gid
(S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server
Users.)
This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d.
Now it is back again.
How can I get this working?
I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue?
The winbind log looks like

smbtorture NEGNOWAIT makes 3.023d dump core
smbtorture NEGNOWAIT causes a core dump with a message "Abnormal server
exit: multiple negprot's are not permitted".
Is that truely by design??
I am running Samba 3.0.23d as AD member server and have smbtorture
running on the same machine.
Kind regards,
Jens

Bug in NetSessionEnum implementation ?
Hi Everybody,
It seems that there is a bug in the implementation of the MS Windows API
function NetSessionEnum. I am using Windows XP against a Samba 3.023d
domain controller.
When NetSessionEnum is successful it is supposed to return either
NERR_Success (0) when it is finished or ERROR_MORE_DATA when there is
more data outstanding.
In my program which tries to retrieve all currently logged-on

winbind problem, have workaround but...
Greetings list,
I have a member server in a w2k3 AD domain that has been happily spinning
for a couple of years. As of yesterday morning, we've been having some
issues with it. I've had it configured correctly, and haven't touched it.
I'll provide the configs if needed.
I've kept it updated as time's gone on for security updates etc..
the wonkyness seems to rear is

Hello,
I have two samba servers, A is configured as a PDC, B offers some
additional shares. B is getting usernames and passwords via winbind
from a, using the following configuration directives:
| idmap uid = 100-999
| idmap gid = 100-999
| winbind enum users = yes
| winbind enum groups = yes
| winbind use default domain = yes
This is basically working fine, local ssh login is ok, getent shows

Samba Core dump when using AD groups on the Linux File System??
Hi all,
smbd -V: Version 3.0.23d-19.2-1179-SUSE-SL10.2
I'm seeing a core dump in /var/log/messages when trying to access the
security tab from Windows when I have Active Directory users and groups
assigned to the Linux file system.
I can replicate this each time by doing the following.
Change the permissions on the Linux directory I have specified as a share in
smb.conf.
ls -ltr /dir/
