Domain logons and client IP broadcasts
Ok, I'm stumped.
Last week domain logons worked.
Now when I try to logon, I get a message, "You could not logon
because the SJSA domain is not available.
I've had this happen before when the trust account between the
client and server was out of sync (restored a disk image that had
a different trust account password)
To fix this, it has been sufficient to quit the domain, reset

column width in .dbf files using write.dbf ... to be continued
Dear UseRs,
I did not have any answer to my previous message ("Is there a way to define
"manually" columns width when using write.dbf function from the library
foreign ?"), so I tried to modify write.dbf function to do what I want.
Here is my modified version :
write.dbfMODIF <- function (dataframe, file, factor2char = TRUE, max_nchar =
254, width = d)

column width in .dbf files using write.dbf ... to be continued
Hello Arnaud,
You posted this question a long long time ago, however I found your answer so I decided to post it anyway in case somebody else have the same problem as you and me.
You were actually very close in finding your solution. The function DoWritedbf is an internal function from the foreign package. To access it outside of the package just do:
foreign:::DoWritedbf

Lockdown ready for testing
Hi group
As promised some months ago, I'm letting you know that lockdown is now ready for testing. Please don't study the code to much, I know it is a mess and therefore a rewrite is on it's way. But feel free to take a look at the features offered, how you use them and the default settings.
When lockdown is ready for production usage, I'll release version 1.0. I guess that will

Polycom Spectralink 8002 Configuration
I have a new Polycom Spectralink 8002 and am having trouble with the
configuration or the unit but I can't see what's wrong. The unit does
not seem to even attempt to register with the Asterisk proxy but I can
make calls to it. I have viewed the syslog from the device which it
will actually write to the asterisk server so I know it can be reached.
I have also run a sip debug and

desktop lockdown on win2k / xp
Hi guys,
I'm just about to shoot on my foot so I wanted to check if there is
something else to blow my full leg actually ;-))
I have setup a working Samba 3 PDC controller with user authentication and
roaming profiles. I want to lock down [*] the desktop on client machines
(win xp) as I did with poledit (NTConfig.POL) on Win9x/WinNT4 machines.
[*] Lock downs suck as : disabling msn

Age of Conan, Wine 1.3.23, Mac OS 10.6.7 ?
Age of Conan went free-to-play (sort of) recently, and I thought I'd give it a look. The AppDB entry and a search of bugs seems to indicate that it should mostly work except for some texture problems, but I can't seem to get past the installation.
Configuration:
* Mac OS X 10.6.7
* Wine 1.3.23
* Age of Conan web installer
Process:
* Created fresh WINEPREFIX by: "wine notepad"

Lockdown: Understanding "nil_lockdown_values"...?
Hi All,
I''m having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around
"nil_lockdown_values" in the Lockdown plugin. I''m unfamiliar with how
exactly this works. I''m assuming it is a helper method of sorts, but
I see no definition. Does Rails simply have the ability to nil_
[somerandomliborclass]_values? Would someone mind unconfusing me?
Also, where would I find

wine and security - lockdown suggestions
I only run one piece of software under wine but this app is still a great risk.
The intentions and opportunity of software developers not using open source should not be underestimated.
when i run
env WINEPREFIX="/ubuntu/PC1/.wine" wine C:\\windows\\system32\\taskmgr.exe
I am reminded again of all the security problems with windows.
I was thinking that it ought to be easier to

- your run into some problem like CVE-2008-0166

And you want to lock down the sshd and investigate and

You are looking at a Internet draft which expired more than 20 years ago.

Then you go and remove the corresponding pubkeys from wherever they're
configured.
Seriously, even if you do not scan which pubkey is configured where
*now* (as is part of our usual monitoring), it'll be your "number <3"
task *then* to go hunt it down.

Request for a Lockdown option
Dear OpenSSH developers,
Thanks a lot for your work on OpenSSH. We use it a lot and it is very helpful for our daily work. Would it be possible to have a lockdown option as a workaround in case of a remotely exploitable problem in ssh. This may help react to compromised keys/passwords, configuration issues, software bugs or other problems for example when Debian broke ssh .
My Idea would be
