can a combination of samba 4 tp4 server set as AD controiller with a samba 3.x BDC(slave) emulate a MS AD infrastructure ' well enough' right now?
Looking at the warnings about not running samba 4 (tp3) in a working environment, because of the missing file printing features make me wonder if one could get away with only using the AD controller features of samba 4 for now and have a samba 3.x DC, that has joined the samba 4 controlled Active Directory domain, handle the file and print sharing. How much of an issue would the missing samba4

Bridging R to OpenOffice
Dear members of the R Development Team, I am looking for people with a deep understanding of R internals to assist in bridging R to OpenOffice. While R is a state of the art statistical environment, less experienced users often find it difficult to work with R. Therefore, I believe that a bridge between R and a spreadsheet program will make this transition less painful. I sincerely believe

multiple comparisons of time series data
I am interested in a statistical comparison of multiple (5) time series' generated from modeling software (Hydrologic Simulation Program Fortran). The model output simulates daily bacteria concentration in a stream. The multiple time series' are a result of varying our representation of the stream within the model. Our main question is: Do the different methods used to represent a

Mapping ADS groups
I've got a Samba 3.0.7 member server of an ADS domain. Is there some way to map everyone in an ADS group to a single user for the purposes of Unix permissions? I thought I could do this with an smb.conf entry of: usernam map = /opt/samba/etc/username.map and an entry in the username map of smbuser = @"DOMAIN\Group Name" but that doesn't seem to do it. Using a username map entry

Just saw this in the Windows Secret blog: Get official and unofficial fixes for Excel By Brian Livingston Despite the hotfix that Microsoft recently released for Excel 2007, as I described on Oct. 11, some math errors that you should know about still lurk in both Excel 2007 and Excel 2003. I'll bring you up to date and explain how you can get better results from Excel. Baier and

compile samba 4.10.2 centos 7.6
Hi Gabriel, I've compiled Samba 4.10.2 on CentOS 7 successfully. I've read the wiki that 4.10.2 version is full compatible with python 3, specifically python 3.4. Then I've install, use the yum command, the package python34-devel and I've added an environment variable at /etc/profile with export PYTHON=python3.4. Thus, I've run ./configure, make and make install with no

NT user name doesn't match unix username when winbindd is running
We are testing winbind and security=domain to authenticate NT users on our UNIX box in samba (v2.2.3a). Winbind is working correctly. Wbinfo shows users as domainname+username (we are using "+" as the separator), however, the NT usernames aren't automatically mapping to their corresponding UNIX usernames as expected. Perhaps I don't understand how this is supposed to work?
