RequireSecuritySignature=1 and public share with guest not working
Hi Rowland The client is stopping communication, not the server. With error 1240. And since it is working with the client setting RequireSecuritySignature=0 without any problem, ' hosts allow' cannot be either the problem nor the solution. So - setting RequireSecuritySignature=1 at the client needs a corresponding setting at the server - I guess. But even explicit settings on samba side

RequireSecuritySignature=1 and public share with guest not working
Hi Louis Thank you! As i wrote in my first post, i tried even with these settings: client max protocol = SMB3 client min protocol = SMB2 client signing = required server signing = required But it was not working - as soon I use RequireSecuritySignature=1 on the client. It seems for that the client is stopping communication since the Win7-client expects something

RequireSecuritySignature=1 and public share with guest not working
Hi Rowland In former time there was "security=share", now i have to use "RequireSecuritySignature=1" on client side. Documentation for SMB signing says, this is only possible with "security=user", not with share. So I switched to security=user, configured guest-access to the public share and activated this RequireSecuritySignature=1 And then - with

RequireSecuritySignature=1 and public share with guest not working
Hi Rowland sorry for not being clear. In my first post I already wrote: Now I have to tight security with setting those flags in the windows client: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters] EnablePlainTextPassword=0 EnableSecuritySignature=1 RequireSecuritySignature=1 . . . when I change registry to RequireSecuritySignature=0, everything works like

RequireSecuritySignature=1 and public share with guest not working
Due to security reasons smb signing has to be activated and this share between linux and windows is now dead. And I do not find the correct settings to do a public share in this szenario. It has to be public, because the linux is'nt allowed to join the domain and on the other way, the win-clients cannot leave their domains. And I think, just signing smb-messages should not speek against a

SMB signing.
Hi all, Is anyone using Windows SMB signing in a production environment ? This is the signing proceedure created by setting the Registry keys EnableSecuritySignature:1, RequireSecuritySignature: 1 in the lanmanserver and lanmanworkstation parameters. I'm playing with implementing this in Samba for 3.0, but am finding that it doesn't seem to work when mixing Windows NT or Windows 2000

Hello I have an samba server with a public share. It was configured with security=share. Now I have to tight security with setting those flags in the windows client: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters] EnablePlainTextPassword=0 EnableSecuritySignature=1 RequireSecuritySignature=1 Since this change the public share is not working anymore. I found

Courier migration to dovecot
Hi, I'm almost ready to migrate Courier to Dovecot 2.2.31 but I have one question about home and mail directory. It's good idea to have same directory form home and mail ? Which scenerio will be better and why ? For example: A) Home: /home/doamin/user1 Mail: /home/doamin/user1 B) Home: /home/doamin/user1/home Mail: /home/doamin/user1 C) Home: /home/doamin/user1/ Mail:

Windows 10 in Samba 3 domain: netlogon share access denied
I just joined a Windows 10 (build 10130) to our Samba 3 domain. It seems to work. I can login, a home directory is created on the server, and I can access shares. All shares are OK, except "netlogon". Logon scripts don't run, and I cannot open the netlogon share. I get "Access denied" and a prompt to enter my username and password, which keeps coming back. At the

Finally cracked the mystery of motherboards with Vt-d support
After contacting Asus, MSI and Gigabyte, this is what I got back. Only motherboards with the QXX chipsets and certified with the Intel VPro support the Vt-d virtualization technology. I''m not sure about MSI though, because this is what I got from their support: "Almost board could support. Please refer to our website, http://www.msi.com/product/mb/." The problem is that

Problem with smbclient to Windows 2003 Server.
Hello! I?m writing to you all on behalf of my working party, a group of students at Chalmers Lindholmen University. We have been working on a problem for 6 weeks but we have come to a dead stop. If you could help us in any way we would remember it with gratitude and make sure it?s not forgotten! We are wondering if someone can assist us with a dilemma we have regarding Samba 3.0 alpha23 on
