Could not load openssl; cannot install
I''m trying to get Puppet to run on ESX v3.0.1. Being that ESX doesn''t come with ruby, I installed v1.8.6 under /opt/ruby/ruby-1.8.6 and linked the bin to /usr/bin. facter installed and runs without issue. However, when I try to install puppet, I get: - Could not load openssl; cannot install Is this due to the way I installed ruby or something else? Thanks, Clif

Raw Printing, was cupsaddsmb and .inf files
Howdy, I've just successfully configured a win2k system to print on a raw queue, but apparenty not through samba. I'm courious as to why that didn't work, and would like to help update the documentation to cover this in more detail, if only I understood it better. I started by following the directions here under "Raw Print Serving Vendor Drivers on Windows Clients":

Winbind integration with large AD on Solaris 10
I'm having trouble getting Samba working on Solaris 10 with a large active directory (35000 users, 5000 groups). I've set this up successfully in the past with winbind enum users = yes and winbind enum users = yes in the smb.conf file. Owing to the large number of users in this application, I need to have these set to no. Realistically, only a couple dozen people and 3 groups actually

Is there any "fake UPS" driver (and Solaris 10+ integration)?
Hello all, I am a long-time user of NUT (since last millennium, or so it seems) and beside Linux where I've started, I also integrated it with our Solaris 8 and 9 servers' shutdown procedures - avoiding the possible "hole" when the line power returns right at the bad moment when UPSes and systems are already told to power off. In this case, they see no event like "I am

Windows 7 only connects if joined to the domain
I'm running 3.4.6 (was running 3.0.28a but upgraded in hopes to fix this issue). Clients running Windows 7 that are NOT joined to the AD domain (samba authenticates against it via "security = server") cannot authenticate to access the server. Clients running Windows 7 that are on the domain as well as Windows XP, Windows 2003 on and off the domain work as expected. Any help would

[Solaris 8+9][ads] Is there a package built?
Hi folks, Has anyone created a samba package for Solaris 8 and/or Solaris 9 with ads support built-in? I'm currently using 3.0.28 on Solaris 10, and it works exactly the way that I need (using the default package that ships from SUN with the OS). The default samba that ships with Solaris 9 is in the 2.2.12 (too old), and I havent checked which version might have shipped with Solaris 8...

Problems compiling ADS support on Solaris 9
We are encountering some problems compiling a working version of Samba 3.4.1 with ADS support on Solaris 9. We've run autogen.sh and configure successfully (config.log attached), followed by make and make install. However, despite having openldap and Heimdal Kerberos (1.2.1) installed, and including the configure switches --with-ads --with-ldap --with-krb5=/usr/heimdal, when we try a net join

[Solaris 9][ads] net ads testjoin error
Hello folks, I have been able to successfully compile (MIT) kerberos (1.5.4) and samba (3.0.28a) on a Solaris 9 (Kernel version: SunOS 5.9 Generic 122300-31 Aug 2008) host. I was able to successfully join this host to a DEVDOMAIN This is the smb.conf file that I used: [global] # If there are no settings here, Samba uses the default values for all global settings security = ads

Issues with Solaris 9, and ADS
I have been working with this for a little over a month now, and here's where we are at: We have 3 domains, 2 of them are sending SIDs to the Solaris box, and Kerbos is compiled and working (we can authenticate to any of the 3 domains), we can get user IDs from any of the 3 domains, however none of the users can gain access to the share unless we give them a Unix account. Samba was

NEAX 2000 IVS Integration
Greetings all, This is my first post to this forum, so please be kind. I am looking to integrate Asterisk as our primary voice mail server (IVS) for our NEC NEAX 2000 IVS. We currently use a 6-port Mitel system. The two communicate via analog TDM ports and a MCI serial connection. Is anyone familiar with setting up a NEAX 2000 with Asterisk as an IVR server? I know I would need six FXO and

OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 7 x86 problems
Dear sir- I have been trying to build and run OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 7 for x86. I tried with SunPRO 5.0 compilers and gcc 2.95.2. I am using zlib 1.1.3 and openssl-0.9.6a. In all cases I can get ssh to work for version 1. In no case can I get version 2 to connect. With the SunPRO 5.0 compiler the signature does not verify, with gcc, ssh dies in segmentation violation. I can provide more

cupsaddsmb and .inf files
Hi, I've also got problems downloading drivers from samba to a windows client. I'm running Debian Samba 3.0.7-1, and Cupssys 1.1.20final My Windows Client is a Win2KPro. I succesfully installed my printers with Cups and they work fine under Linux, and from remote cups clients. I've been trying to follow the samba docs on serving postscript drivers for cups from the print share in

Crossbow integration with Solaris 10/08
Hi, >From what I have read, the create-vnic feature in dladm is only available within the context of crossbow...? Specifically, what I am wondering is whether it is at all possible to successfully install crossbow on top of Sun''s "Standard/sunsolve supported" Solaris 10/08 rather than OpenSolaris, per. Se.... Is this at all feasible? Many thanks in advance.. Best

Thanks for your help with this behaviour. I have tried a few other things, and it looks like it is an issue of using the clipboard to copy it in rather than saving to a file then copying.
