Samba 3.0.23c, ACL and Debian Sarge
Dear All,
I search for the packages of samba for GNU/Debian sarge
with acl compiled inside.
In fact I did try the 2 links provided by the web site but it still
doesn't work ACL and Samba 2.0.23c
(samba.org and entreprisesamba.org). This is an upgrade from the
3.0.14a, with this version the ACL
support was ok. No it doesn't work anymore (Samba only see the basic
rigths).

Architecture Advice
We have 2 offices. One is in the US and the other in India. We are
testing Asterisk as a possible solution. Does anyone have advice for the
preferred architecture when dealing with the latency from the US to
India?
For example, although it is not a requirement to have an Asterisk server
in India it may make sense to have one there and connect office to
office vi IAX since I hear that it supports

Printer Issue over IPSEC VPN
Our Primary internal Samba server sits at our HQ. It provides WINS
services for all of our internal machines. We have a number of IPSEC
VPN's that connect our remote offices to the HQ. Given that our Remote
offices are relatively small we haven't found it necessary to equip them
with machines running samba to provide local services. Instead all the
requests for name

Oops, I got it to work only after putting the WAN on port 656 so it
did not interfere with port 655 for the LAN.
I am going to depend heavily on this VPN daemon to do its work
every day.

Calls being disconnected across VPN
Hey All,
Sometimes we are running into issues with calls randomly being
disconnected. We have a couple of phones is in a remote office. We
have a PIX-to-PIX VPN setup between the offices. I know neither of
these devices provide QOS but we usually don't run into any problems. I
notice this problem when we are in a conference call with one of the

VoIP over virtualized VPN
Hi List,
Our company has several small distributed offices we would like to
inter-connect with bridged VPN a single subnet (last example in
http://www.shorewall.net/OPENVPN.html). We have SIP phones in every
office (up to 5) so we can use SIP without any NATing and securely.
Max theoretical simultaneous calls possible ~30, but we have ~5-10 @
regular basis.
OpenVPN server would be in the same

Asterisk , ISA Firewall/VPN , STUN and other
First, I assume that you will be running NAT at both locations, if that is not the case, then the configuration will change.
When you said VPN, are you using PPTP or IPSEC? Microsoft supports PPTP. In order to connect a PC over VPN to the office, which has a PPTP VPN Server, you will need to runs VPN software. After it is run, the PC obtains a new IP address from your office, If you are using

VPN
I have a samba server running as an active domaincontroller. I want people in an other office building to use the same samba server. What is the best way to do this? Use a second domain controller. Vpn to first domain controller. (Using an Mikrotik router). And how can you configure windows to use the vpn at startup?

VPN
The best and the easiest way. Just use OpenVpn.
No need for a second DC if all remote pcs start the opnvpn client on startup.
On the DC side run the OpenVpn -Server or use "Zero-Shell".

QoS & VPN
I've got multiple satellite office all linked back to the main office

to the main office's Asterisk server. Each office also has a 1Mb

Speex for their connections back to the main office. The issue I'm
having is that there are times that

Vista over VPN loses connection with workgroup
I've a server running CentOS 5, Samba 3.0.23c and OpenVPN-2.1beta4
A laptop running Vista connects to the server over VPN. The CentOS
server is local, domain and preferred master, and also WINS server.
It looks like every once in a while the Vista laptop drops the VPN
connection, which gets re-established soon after that. But the problem
is, it appears that after the dropout the Vista
