Base ldap access file.
Hi, Having set up a few Samba-ldap installations, I always end up with the feeling that OpenLDAP ACLs is what took time. The following patches / scripts might help someone else. I would appreciate some input on the access.conf.pl file so that it is even better tuned. Mr Tournier and the sambateam: Please include the files you find usefull. The attached files are: slapd.conf.pl : A simple

Bug or weird ``feature''?
Hi I was experimenting with Xen(-2.0) on NetBSD last summer and I have been trying it on Debian GNU/Linux recently. I was surprised to see that my guest OS had no Internet connectivity. I took the Xen documentation, but did not find any clue: the doc basically tells ``everything should work out of the box''. I spoke about that with a friend who had already used Xen under Debian and he

Fatal: setgid, imap connections dropped.
Hi, I'm getting errors with my IMAP setup. Basically, everything seems to work. Mail is delivered nicely from Postfix to Dovecot via LMTP. Dovecot does the authentication to LDAP (also for Postfix). Users are able to send mail via authenticated submission (Postfix) and login into IMAP and POP. However, IMAP connections are dropped frequently with an "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP

AppleTalk(netatalk)+Samba
Hi folks, is anybody using those two products together and can give me any advice on how to do this? My specific issue has been addressed in other posts before, but as nobody responded, it would just now be interesting if anybody at least uses those applications together successfully? greets Malte

Join 2012 Server R2 as member to NT domain
Is it still possible to join a Windows 2012 Server R2 system as a member to a 'pre-NT5' Samba (3.6.23) domain controller? The Windows 'Domain Change' GUI errors immediately after failing the SRV lookup for the AD server. Even with the SRV record in place, the GUI fails trying to connect to the non-existent LDAP port. Netdom on the command line tries to work if the DC name

Samba 3 PDC - trouble renaming domain member computer
All, I've got a Samba 3 PDC serving numerous XP clients, and I'm getting an error I wouldn't have expected. When trying to rename an XP machine joined to the domain (via "netdom renamecomputer"), the command fails unless the specified domain user has UID 0. The command in question: netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /newname:%NEWNAME% /userD:DOMAIN\USER

password_query, user_query and unrelated userid and emails
Let's say one has a SQL table with following fields for John Doe: login: u0007 password: {SHA1}... mailhome: /path/to/joeshome email: john.doe at example.com To log in, for internal policy reasons, John MUST make use of his userid "u0007". So, in the password_query, one would need something like: ... WHERE login = '%u' ... On the other hand, for receiving mail thru

Getting a list of users in a group - how?
Hi all, Hopefully this is a simple one - I'm trying to work out how to get a list of users in a certain group. If I have the following set up in Active Directory: Group1 - UserA - UserB Group2 - UserC - UserD AllGroups - Group1 - Group2 - UserX Then I want to be able to say "List all users in the AllGroups group" and I should get UserA,B,C,D and UserX
