smbd wont start
My samba has been setup in its current configuration for around 9 months and has worked without a problem, over the weekend my windows boxes were unable to access the samba shares. Using SWAT I found that the smbd was not starting. I have tried the following: Trying to start smbd (as root) from the cli with: smbd start Seems to execute the command and gave no errors but still swat says that

new to samba, pointers/guidance needed
Hi all, I've been fighting with samba for a day and a half and hope that I can get some guidance and/or pointers to info which I clearly need. I'm running a small network, the Linux host (running samba) is CentOS 5.1, fresh install. The workstations are WinXP and the goal is to use the workgroup logins which people use on their local machines to access specific shares on the CentOS

Cannot start Samba 3.0.23a
I just installed Samba 3.0.23a from the sources on a Slackware 10 server kernal version 2.4.26. I didn't get any errors during installation. When I try to start the Samba daemon by smdb -D nothing happens. Here is a snippet from log.smbd: [2006/07/28 20:22:27, 0] smbd/server.c:main(847) smbd version 3.0.23a started. can't start smbd
I'm running debian sid with the 2.6.18 kernel and and the 3.0.23c-4 version of samba. After a routine update a week or so ago I could no longer use samba. I haven't made any changes to my smb.conf file. When I try to restart samba from a terminal I get this: # /etc/init.d/samba restart Stopping Samba daemons: nmbd smbdstart-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 7815: No such process

Ringing Groups, SIP Forward and looping problem
I've a big problem with SIP forwarding back into 'ringing groups' creating what can only be described as call storms :-( I have a 'ringing groups' of SIP phones with an effective dialplan (much simplified) like so: ; Purchase ledger [ptsn_inbound] exten => _846061,1,Dial(Local/6061 at groups) .... SIP/SDP for MulticastRTP page
Hi everyone, I am sending out a multicast page using the following in my dialplan: Page(MulticastRTP/linksys/${MULTICAST_IP_ADDR}:6061/${MULTICAST_IP_ADDR}:6061,q) Everything works great, but I had a question about SIP and SDP: Should I be seeing a SIP/SDP message from the asterisk server containing media information and the multicast IP address? On wireshark, I see SIP/SDP from the admin

How to set up a passwd file for virtual hosting
Hi, Exim4 is running fine and I am trying to set up Dovecot 0.99 to handle virtual users (http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/VirtualhostingWithExim) so I don't have to set up user accounts for each e-mail address I want to server out via pop3. I need to create a user and passd file, a bit like /etc/passwd, but in a different location for my dovecot virtual users. I can create a blank file

Change Asterisk MulticastRTP codec
Greetings everyone, I was wondering if there was a way to change the codec that Asterisk uses when streaming via MulticastRTP. Or perhaps a way to transcode the multicast stream. In the CLI, when I have a multicast stream in progress, I am typing 'core show channel MulticastRTP/0x7f7........' to get lots of helpful information. I have noticed that when I do a MULTICAST page and send data

Clang/LLVM producing incomplete & erroneous debug information
Hi everyone, I'm trying to get debug information for a C/pthreads application, but it seems like clang/LLVM are producing limited & erroneous debugging information. I've attached a simple test example to reproduce the problem -- I'm using clang/LLVM 3.7.1 built from source on Ubuntu 14.04. I compile the attached file with: $ clang -O1 -g test.c -lpthread If I run: $ readelf

GLM Contingency table regressions
I have a contingency table with a 0/1 variable (fwr) that flags a particular condition, a weight variable (cnt) and other variables (e.g. zz) characterizing that observation of the table. I am trying to use GLM. By converting the variables to factors and running the following regression: fwr1<-factor(fwr) zz1<-factor(zz1) res1<-glm(fwr1 ~ zz1,weights=cnt) Is that appropriate? Paul M.

Problems with t38modem and bitrate sent to t38-termination service
Hi all the people in the list! I'm new on this list, this is my first post. I configured asterisk 1.6 with freepbx 2.7 and dahdi to send faxes with t38modem conected to hylafax as a sip extension of asterisk. Everything is supposed to be configured fine, the faxes start sending, but at the middle of the transaction, it fails. The T.38 termination provider told me that they were receiving

Asterisk as SIP Provider
Can someone help me use Asterisk to provide SIP trunking to another PBX? I'd like to insert an Asterisk platform between a network PRI and an existing PBX. Incoming calls would (based on DNIS in a SQL table) go to PBX "A" on a PRI channel or PBX "B" as SIP. Outgoing calls from either PBX would select an available network PRI channel. --Don Don Kelly CT Magic 612
