AW: Problems with installation
ok - I tried this too. But CentOS tries to find the floppy as /dev/hda which is not the device for the USB-Floppy. Dell ships one with the server because no one is integrated. So when I try to include the driver disk the installer is not able to find it. -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] Im Auftrag von Jim Perrin Gesendet:

Strange Samba permissions
Hi, I am really stuggeling with Samba, searched forums and checked tutorials, so far with no success. So you are my last resort and probably the first place I should have checked, but I am completly new to mail groups, so please be patient with me. Users can log in to the Samba PDC domain successfully and get the login script executed just fine. But: 1.) If user A is creating a file then user

Access denied to shares samba 3
Hi, I have samba-3.0.23d-1tr on a trustix 3.0 system. This samba was joined to a win 2k3 domain and it works perfect for lot of months. Now I can access only to tmp share, and samba server is very slow to expose all shares. If I launch wbinfo -u or wbinfo -g, I still see the users/group from win2k3 server, but in the log of my winxp client (whose name is Euro15), I see: [2006/12/27 11:52:31, 2]

Lots of "Failed to create" error messages after upgrading to 2.0.25c
Hello, I recently upgraded from Samba 3.0.22 to 3.0.25c on Solaris, and after doing so I noticed a sudden proliferation of new error messages in the Samba log, such as: [2007/08/27 15:36:03, 2] smbd/sesssetup.c:setup_new_vc_session(1200) setup_new_vc_session: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources. Failed to create BUILTIN\Users group! with idmap backend = ad
Hey, I'm running Samba version 3.0.28 and having trouble with the automatic creation of builtin groups on the server, I'm using the AD idmap backend. Quite often I get the following error: [2008/02/18 14:04:25, 2] auth/auth_util.c:create_local_nt_token(941) create_local_nt_token: Failed to create BUILTIN\Users group! AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch. J?rg -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- Von: Gautier, B (Bob) [mailto:Bob.Gautier@rabobank.com] Gesendet: Freitag, 21. April 2006 12:54 An: Horchler, Joerg;

Is 'force user/group' misbehaving?
Hello list, I'm running ubuntu server 7.10 amd64 and trying to set up a samba server for a LAN. Samba version is 3.0.26a IIRC (I can't access the machine ATM) I'm stumped with a problem and I believe it's related, somehow, with the 'force user' parameter, so I created this testcase to seek for help... In the example smb.conf I'm trying to create one share accessible

samba/ldap setup stopped working (might be a challenge)
Hi, two days ago my functioning samba/ldap server stopped working. I *think* the problem is somehow related to the fact i transfered everything to a new server, but that was two months ago. Trouble started yesterday morning after a power-outage. Configuration: ubuntu 8.04, with a standard samba, ldap and smbldap-tools installed via apt-get. When users tried to login, they got a message "a
