Samba VFS recyclebin hide
Hi Guys & Girls, Samba VFS Recyclebin is a brilliant feature but I need to figure a way to make it non-visible to end users as often files deleted are done so maliciously. The VFS module defaulty places the Recyclebin directory in the of whichever share it is active on, Ive tried a couple of ways to hide it but none successful. hide files veto files... ? smb.conf below [global] workgroup =

Vista Issues with samba
We have Samba setup for our shared drive. I have pasted the smb.conf file below. Everything is working well accept when we try and run an EXE file using Windows Vista. When we run an EXE file it first ask for UAC control then it pops up the username and password prompt. You must then type your username and password in again before it will run. I think the issues is that UAC is now running the

IXFR regression in nsd 3.2.9?
We upgraded to NSD 3.2.9 (from 3.2.8) because we encountered the problem "Fix denial of existence response for empty non-terminal that looks like a NSEC3-only domain (but has data below it)." (a nasty problem with DNSSEC). But we now have IXFR issues. On one name server, NSD 3.2.9 works fine, zones are IXFRed and work. On another name server, with much more zones (and big ones), we

[OT?] $RECYCLE.BIN cleanup...
I've noted that in my domain (AD) if i do some folder redirection in GPO, for every folder a $RECYCLE.BIN folder get created. That users clearly never cleanup. a) (Windows Side) there's some 'things' (GPO, script, ...) that can cleanup trash folders 'file older then X days'? I've found the powershell script 'Clear-RecycleBin', but seems that empty the bin, not

Samba 4 permissions error
This is a normal behaviour if you are using several dcs. Users und groups do have another gid/uid on each server until you fix it manually. This was a hard experiennce and work even fo rme which I suggest that this should be the next goal for the samba 4 developers to solve and fix it in an easy way for the admins. In my opinion, if I run several dcs in a domain this should be done between the

access rights for unix groups unreliable
Hello, Please help me with this. Access rights granted with acl to unix groups work only on about 2 out of 10 logins, otherwise I get access denied. Directories with rights granted to everybody are always accessible. Rights were granted from within Windows 7 to a unix-group named "g_all". Samba is 4.1.6 of Ubuntu 14.04 Output of testparm: rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to

Inherit permissions of destination during file move.
Hi all, We have a Linux host sharing a folder out via Samba. The Linux host has underlying ACLs set on the files using setfacl to grant local Linux groups permissions on the files and folders. The users of Samba are then placed into groups which in turn grant them these permissions via Samba when accessing the files and folders from a Windows RDP Server applying the correct permissions. This is

Winbind queries take longer than 1m30s to complete
When I say winbind query I mean from `wbinfo -u` to a simple `getent passwd SAMDOM\\user`. When the winbind cache is small, clients that use a program in a network share of this server get timeouts while using the program, due to the cache expiring and the query to the PDC taking too, long. I've worked around that by setting a winbind cache time longer than the span of work hours and a cron

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

ldbrename does not rename container users CN=Deleted Objects
Sadly the AD recycle bin isn't known to be reliably working in Samba. The main effect that was noticed is that for some reason when enabled, from memory, it caused the object to vanish almost instantly, rather than remain as a tombstone for a time (eg, it did the opposite). I've had investigating this properly on my wish-list for some time, but it is one of those annoying tasks that I
