build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! affecting samba group mapping?
Hi,
when using
pdbedit -L <user>
we get an error
> build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username <user> with
uid <uid> is not in unix passwd database!
> Username not found!
This is because a user is not - as it says - in e.g. /etc/passwd.
Does this affect the functionality of group mappings in the way that this
doesn't work with the mapped unixgroup

build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt
Hi,
I wanted to migrate my sambapasswd file to a ldap test system and
noticed, that I do get errors:
build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt ... username with uid
... is not in unix passwd database!
Importing/changing LDAP accounts fail after the last useraccount entry
in my sambapasswd file.
Is there a way to remove all accounts which are in the sambapasswdfile

however, I'm resolving my awilliam with nss_ldap, so I can ssh and su -l

Is it possible to have a Samba configured with security=DOMAIN, but

the auth fails and log reports: [2003/05/13 18:48:55, 0]

User Migration question
Hello,
I would like to migrate my user-accounts from a Samba 2 to a Samba 3
setup.
Old Setup:
Samba 2 with PAM support. PAM uses LDAP to store PosixAccounts
New Setup:
Samba 3 with "native" LDAP. PosixAccounts are already migrated to my new
LDAP server.
I tried pdbedit with my old smbpasswd file:
---snip---
# pdbedit -i smbpasswd:./smbpasswd
build_sam_account: smbpasswd database

ACLs revisited
Hi all,
My appologies if this has been addressed before, but I've been searching
the list archives and can only find people reporting having the problem,
not a solution. I have found a solution for my own situation and I
thought I'd share it in case it can help anyone else.

Can't get users from AD tree
I'm running Samba version Version 3.0.25b-1.el5_1.2 on RH Enterprise
Linux 5. I've configured the SMB server to get users from a Windows 2003
Server Active Directory tree. I was able to join the machine to the
domain with no problem.
Here's the smb.conf

winbind trusted domains only = yes
encrypt passwords = yes

Solution to a Problem - Adding domain users as local Admins fails
I thought I'd post an observation about a problem I solved so that others
might benefit. I must admit I was struggling with the issue for a couple of
days, and solved it, though I'm not sure exactly what solved it but I'll
share the observations nonetheless, for the benefit of others.

I was unable to view domain users as the local admin, even if I authenticated

Samba Problems
I have a couple of problems with Samba that I would appreciate help
with:
1. Since installing version 1.9.17p1, error messages such as "ERROR:

appearing in log.smb.
2. When a directory on a UNIX machine contains a file named *, this file
appears with the name ~16
