creating NTConfig.POL
I have an NTConfig.POL I created from poledit with the Windows 2000
Administrator toolkit. It contains my WSUS configuration, and
NTConfig.POL is placed in my [netlogon] share and is being loaded fine
by the clients. Is this still the propery way to create NTConfig.POL
files, or is there a newer utility I should be using? I'm looking at
Vista and it uses .admx templates, which I guess

W2K Workstation not reading NTConfig.pol
I have recently set up an small SAMBA network(just my
server and a W2K SP4 Workstation). My Server is acting
as a PDC. Everything seems to work flawlessly, users,
roaming profiles, netlogon script, etc... But I cannot
make this machine to read my NTConfig.pol file.
I have it at my NETLOGON share [/srv/netlogon] with
rwxr-xr-x permissions. I have tried with different
filenames (NTConfig.POL,

ntconfig.pol not loaded
hi samba community and team !
I' m playing with policies under win2k/samba3/ntconfig.pol/poledit
It worked at first, but now seems my win2k test machine doesn't want to load the
ntconfig.pol located into \\mysmbpdc\netlogon
I've seen some threads about the same prob. but none with a solution.
I know there is a project with an "editreg" tool planned.
But for now I would like

ntconfig.pol policies for groups
Hi!
I have a problem using ntconfig.pol-policies for domain groups other
than "Domain Users" and "Domain Admins".
I am using Samba 2.2.7 with LDAP support as a PDC.
Policies work as expected for "Domain Users" and "Domain Admins" but
setting policies for any other group doesn't work.
The "Browse"-list for AddGroups in poledit only shows

how to create NTConfig.POL?
Is there a way to create an NTConfig.POL file without having access to an
NT4, w2k or w2k3 server?
Is there a way to do it in linux? Or a winxp/9x workstation?

w2k-client and ntconfig.pol...
Hi,
after setting up samba 2.2.3a as a PDC and connecting
a few NT4- and W2k-Clients to the PDC (which worked fine without
any problems), I tried to install a policy to redirect some
folders in the user profiles. I used poledit to create
a policy with modified 'Shell Folders' and 'User Shell
Folders' keys and copied it to the netlogon share. This is where
the problems started: The

NTConfig.POL ignored
Why would NTConfig.POL be ignored?
I've got an Ubuntu server running a Samba (3.3.2) PDC. I've created
NTConfig.POL as per www.pcc-services.com (on a Windows XP Pro machine, for a
Windows XP Pro machine), and stuck it in the netlogon share, but it doesn't
go.
The XP machine can get at the netlogon share and is part of the domain. It
can access other shares as well. I get nothing in

NTConfig.pol
Hi list.
I've just configured a PDC server using RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 (update
5) and Samba 3.0.25a.
Everithing is working fine. I'm not using LDAP and all my client machines
are installed with Windows XP Professional.
I used the Mike Petersen website (
http://www.pcc-services.com/custom_poledit.html) to help me creating the
NTConfig.pol file and created custom profiles

Inter-domain trust relationship AND logon script/ntconfig.pol
Hi there,
I'm using an inter-domain trust relationship (DOM-B trusted, DOM-A
trusting, COMP-A=DOM-A computer member).
It works as expected (ish), DOM-B users can logon onto DOM-A
computers.
I'd like to know if it is possible to force login scripts and
ntconfig.pol to be read from the DOM-A pdc server, rather than from
the DOM-B one ?
My setup includes a samba trusted domain and several

NTconfig.pol not used
I am running Samba 2.2.7a on SuSE 8.0 and all Windows/XP clients in a PDC configuration.
All runs great except for one problem.
I cannot get NTconfig.pol to be used. I have placed it in the netlogon share and read/execute permissions are wide open.
I turn on samba loglevel=3 and I never see samba even try to look for NTconfig.pol, or any *.pol file. This occurs for all of my clients.

NTConfig.POL not working for Win 2000 (for XP working fine)?
I'm just exploring the Profile Editor, described on
http://www.pcc-services.com/custom_poledit.html - and policies saved to
NTConfig.pol file and copied to the netlogon share work great for
Windows XP machines.
However, with Windows 2000, they don't work at all. Winh XP machines -
policies are applied.
I see in Samba logs that the NTConfig.pol is copied from the server to

OT: Vista & NTConfig.POL
This isn't technically a samba question, but I figure there will be
other samba users out there in the same boat.
I have just setup the first Vista box on our samba domain and I am
having some trouble with policies (they don't get applied).
I have had a look around and there is alot of talk about the adm->admx
change, etc but I haven't seen anyone say that anything needs to

What exact version of samba are you running?
Did you join the domain *before* or *after* you installed sp2?
Could you send me the netlogon

Problem when importing via tdbedit and then picking up NTConfig.POL
Hi,
Just found this out - is it a bug which I should register or is this by design?
We had been running a Samba 2.2 server for a few years with a domain called PSCT
- everybody very happy (well done guys!). Installed a new server with Samba 3
based on Debian Etch. The new server was set as the domain PSCT2 to keep things
clear.
Copied all data across to the new server.
The new server has

ntconfig.pol not even being loaded
At one site I support, I have just recently put a policy file on their
server to try and make some stuff easier to manage. Only problem is
Windows is not even trying to load it. I watched the traffic in
Wireshark, and there's no request for the ntconfig.pol file at all. And
of course nothing from it is being applied.
I had read that this can happen if someone has set the policy refresh

Problem with NTConfig.POL+SAMBA+LDAP
Hello,
I installed two debian sarge servers with the following services: OPENLDAP, SAMBA 3.0, HEARTBEAT and DRBD. I used debian packages.
The RAID over IP is used for the /data and /home partitions.
I created a NTConfig.POL for my domain workstations and put it in /home/samba/netlogon.
But when a user log on a machine, the policy is not applied.

ntconfig.pol for samba3.5.6+openldap+Win7
Hi all,
All clients are Win 7.
How can I transmit rules defined in gpedit for users (for example
forbid execution of regedit) to the Default User roaming profile?
Is it done with a ntconfig.pol ? If yes, how can I make it ?
Thanks
