blastwave.rb patch
The original blastwave.rb would store "no pkg-get in /usr/sbin /usr/ bin" into @@pkgget if pkg-get is not found in the PATH. The patch below modifies blastwave.rb to store the first matching binary in the user''s PATH, or if not found, check the default location (puppetd''s PATH may not be sane) and if still not present and executable, correctly store as nil.

BETA: New Solaris Packages for facter-1.3.7 and puppet-0.22.4 available for testing
Hi, I put new Solaris packages for facter and puppet in testing: http://www.blastwave.org/testing/facter-1.3.7-SunOS5.8-all-CSW.pkg.gz http://www.blastwave.org/testing/puppet-0.22.4-SunOS5.8-all-CSW.pkg.gz As well as being the latest versions of facter and puppet, the puppet package now respects csw.conf to prevent puppetd autostarting on install and will install in a global zone only unless

Authentication requests being handled by PDC not local BDC
I have a PDC+LDAP as well as a BDC+LDAP in another subnet setup with a domain member in the same subnet as the BDC. From my understanding the domain member should be hitting the BDC for all authentication but watching the logs I see the PDC is the one handling it all. The BDC just sits there. Am I missing something? Here are the smb.conf for each servers: PDC: [global] workgroup = X.X.X

Packages build for Solaris ? As CSW packages ?
Well imitation is the highest form of flattery they say. So I''m surprised to see these packages neatly built to install into /opt/csw correctly and yet they exist somewhere else and have nothing to do with us here at Blastwave. fascinating. I guess we can always send an email to the person doing this and just ask if they want those packages in testing and then into the catalog for

RE: Compile problem
I am a package maintainer for the Solaris community site known as CSW or blastwave.org. A CSW user requested a dovecot package, so I am attempting to build the package. I downloaded 0.99.10.4 earlier this month and it compiles just fine on my test machine. I went to our CSW build machines to build a version that I can distribute. I got the latest CVS version and used the same environment

Problem with virtual mail user login users uid not permitted
Hello, I am trying to run exim 4.68 and dovecot 1.0.13 on Solaris 10 x86 5/08 using dovecot lda and sieve with virtual users and domains, tls and ssl. At the moment certificates are from my internal CA Exim and Dovecot, dovecot lda and dovecot sieve were downloaded and installed from Blastwave. Mail delivery (ie from Exim to dovecot via dovecot lda) is working correctly but when I try

puppet dashboard and 64-bit mysql
I was looking forward to trying this out, given the puported Solaris support. However, in attempting to install the prereqs for dashboard, I hit a major snag. My main server uses the blastwave MySQL install, which is a 64-bit version of MySQL 5. mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.90, for pc-solaris2.10 (x86_64) Apparently the mysql bindings for ruby don''t like the 64-bit version. AD Auth, but Unix users and groups
Hello All: I have a Samba server (running 3.0.11) that uses an LDAP SAM for authentication. We now have AD (native mode) running in house. Since everyone has a login there, I would like to use the AD credentials for authentication. However, I would like to continue to use the Unix user ids and group ids, etc. All the documentation for AD authentication talks about ID mapping, etc. I don't

I'm currently fighting my way through the dovecot configuration pages and endless options to see if I can just get my mail from the server. Thus far no joy but dovecot seems to be working if I could figure out the configuration. My process thus far has been : 1) read docs 2) try a config change 3) fail 4) goto (1) I just saw an error while trying to read my /var/mail/dclarke good 'ol

Downgrade TDB files?
Hi. I've tried Samba 3.4.3 and it upgraded my passdb.tdb file. After testing I concluded that I'm not going to upgrade to 3.4.3 yet, because 'getent passwd' was broken in recent BlastWave Solaris packages: http://wiki.blastwave.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=447&start=0 Now, after I downgraded the Samba back to 3.0.32, client connections started to malfunction. I saw

Corrections for the R manual on Solaris
There are a few errors in the R manual about Solaris. 1) Firstly you may know that Sun is now owned by Oracle. 2) "(Recent Sun machines are Opterons (?amd64?) rather than ?x86?, but 32-bit ?x86? executables are the default.) " It's not true to say that recent machines are Opterons rather than x86. Many new Sun machines are based on 64-bit Intel CPUs (often called x64). The
