Proxy Arp
Hopefully this is an easy question.... I''m using a leaf router (bearing) running shorewall. Three interfaces net, loc, and dmz. Only one computer in the dmz and its being proxy arp''d. External and internal (net and loc) can reach the dmz but the dmz cannot reach the isp''s gateway and beyond, but can reach a system adjacent to the firewall.

After you compile and install it (./configure --enable-smbwrapper ; make ; make install does it) you simply run it - it'll give you a login/pw and your usual shell prompt. You then can

Change computer password
Hi, we work on authenticating computers via 802.1x with Samba AD as backend of Radius. Everything looks promising. We ask ourselves if it is a good idea to use the machine account which are created by joining a computer to the AD. We can change machine account passwords with `samba-tool user setpassword COMPUTERNAME$` This works, we have SUCCESS with `eapol_test` on the Radius server. The

Problem joining Windows machine to domain managed by Samba PDC
Hi, I am running into a problem that seems to occur to a lot of people, but I haven't yet worked out what the solution is. I have Samba version 3.0.3 installed in a Linux box (let's call it linuxserver) and I want it to run a Windows domain so that I can manage machines and users. I have a Windows box (call it windowsclient, running Windows 2003 Server) that I'd like to join to the

Problem Promoting Windows DC into existing Samba 4 domain
Hello, I am working on adding a Windows 2008 R2 DC into an existing Samba 4 domain. The Samba 4 domain has two DCs running Samba 4.2. I was able to successfully run dcpromo on the Windows server and it appears that nearly everything has replicated except for the DomainDnsZones partition. I have completed the steps in this article for the AD NC Replica command and I also turned off Strict

Possibly a security flaw...
A summary of my problem, I had wrong UIDs for a user (eg pmal) between the /etc/passwd file and the smbpasswd file. When I was trying to loggin from a couple of machines running either win nt or win 98 I was reading in the log files that the loggin could not be completed because the UID were wrong but there were instances were I could loggin from another computer with the same username. I really

Security advice, please
My LAN is behind a Netgear router, which does NAT. On the CentOS server I have fail2ban running. This morning my router reported 3 different IPs attempting to send UDP packets to port 38950, Since each address is only seen 4-5 times, I presume that fail2ban took over after that. GRC reports that ports are stealthed (port 143 was open, but is now closed), but then: Unsolicited Packets:

Hi all, I have successfully joined a Ubuntu 20.04 (focal) machine to a Active Directory domain using ADS. Running the `net ads status` command does not output the information that I expect. This is an example of running `net ads status` on a Ubuntu 20.04 (focal) machine running Samba version 4.11.6-Ubuntu. # net ads status objectClass: top objectClass: person objectClass: organizationalPerson

Problem with Ubuntu bionic R 3.5
Hi Michael. I fear I'm becoming a pain in your back. Sorry. The problem with the "Components" and "Suite" name in the "InRelease" file for bionic-cran35 has been solved. *Many thanks for that.* However, "sudo apt-get install r-base" creates an error message (again here the German version): ulrich at linuxdesktop:~$ sudo apt-get install r-base
