Help: Problems about console color (FC5, XTerm)
Hi, I have just installed asterisk under Fedora5, the program runs fine except the color is not correct, it's very dark, difficult to see. And if I select a part that part's color will be fine at least clear for read purpose. All I can do now is disabling color by changing the TERM environment variable to another value. Any help is greatly appreciated !! Thanks in advance.

Fedora Core 5 and Windows 98
Greetings All, My problem is trying to mount an SMB share from Fedora Core5 to a Windows 98 Machine. Before upgrading from FC4 to FC5 everything worked. I have searched around and it appears that the smbmount and mount -t smbfs options have been deprecated in Samba 3.0.22-1 in favor of CIFS. The command I have been trying now is: mount -t cifs //192.168.0.126/laptop /mnt/share -o username=chime

smbclient won't tar empty directories
Hello, I guess this question has been asked several times, but unfortenuately I don't find an answer neither in the search machines nor in the groups. I backup my windows clients using smbclient with the tar option. Works great, but no empty directories are in the created tar file. I read the smblient and tar's manpage, without finding the necessary option. Does anybody know how I can

smbclient -L misses some shares when using NULL-Sessions
List, while trying to list all shares in my network using smbclient I recognized that some shares are missing. ("hostname" is a Win2K Box). smbclient -L -U "" -N hostname shows no shares (using NULL-Session-Logon as you can see) if I use a windows box to connect to "hostname" using net use \\hostname "" /User:"" I can see all shares of this

without passwd
Hi, I have two Fedora box and rsync running on both systems. One system ip is 192.168.1.110 and the other is 192.168.1.71. I run manually for the following commands in both systems. my problem is whenever run it asking the user passwd and i cannot run the same automatically using crontab. My question is how to avoid the passwd option... rsync -aPrv rsync://192.168.1.110/detailing/

smbd disconnects when trying to write not-very-large files
Running Samba 3.0.4 on FreeBSD 5.2.1-p3, built from the BSD ports collection. I've got Samba up and running (as I have numerous times before with great success) and clients can connect, list files, read, rename, delete, etc. When trying to write a file, though, the server disconnects (and, apparently, the forked process that was started for the connection quits with no error). smbclient in tar mode - no messages about files
I switched over from FreeBSD to Debian/Jessie - samba 4.2. On FreeBSD I used smblient in tar-mode to transfer files to another host. smbclient used to print the names of the files extracted on the remote host. I piped this to tee for logging. On Jessie this behaviour has vanished. There is only one message left that gives information about the server that I'm connecting to. I set the loglevel

R:Re: Can''t migrate domains
my source machine is a debian I''ve recently installed, so all present rules were set by me. but my target machine is a fedora5 I''m using only to test migration. Since fedora was already installed for other purposes, there are some rules in iptables.... the only line with target "REJECT" is: target prot opt in out source destination

Problem accessing a share on a W2008 server via smbclient
Hi We just installed a W server 2008 server as antivirus server. As this server is heavily underused we created a share to backup files from other servers. This share is easily accessed from XP pro Pc's via \\ipadr\share and giving a user/password name on the W 2008 server. We then try to use it from an open suse 9.3 linux server via smbclient. smbclient //ipadr/share -U user%password

Running Fedora Core 5 on top of SUSE 10.1
Noniko, I saw your posting titled "SUSE10.1 has a nice Xen package again" and I was wondering if you had found any documentation on how to run Fedora Core 5 on top of SUSE10.1. Did you build the Fedora environment on a separate Fedora machine and then brought it over to the SUSE machine or did you find the Fedora tools (Yum/Anaconda) on SUSE? Many thanks in advance. Issues post AD migration
Hi , We ran the classic upgrade and migrated the domain . We were then able to add a Windows Server 2008R2 and dcpromo it. Here are some of the issues we are seeing post migration - Pre the migration, the password backend was LDAP. We had some groups that we had migrated into LDAP from TBD. These groups doesn't seem to have come up in AD. - Any groups that were created in
