Few days ago I installed a CentOS 5 domU on a xen-box with CentOS 5 dom0
also. All worked fine; I used virt-install assistant and I created a
local http repo for increase the process speed.
I've tried to do the same with CentOS 4.4 domU, but always I get an
error relationated with unavailable HTTP resource.
It's curious... so I downloaded the x86_64 complete DVDs for 5 and

how to set valid allowed workstation logins
I'm having trouble setting the Workstations value on a tdbsam backend
using pdbedit. I can't seem to find the correct syntax to accomplish
this.
I found some references in an older version of the HOWTO where there
existed "Chapter 10. Account Information Databases". This whole chapter
is missing from the current HOWTO even though it is referenced in the
newest version (a

Domain Admin with tdbsam on 3.0.2a
Firstly I apologise for the length of this query but I am hoping that if I
document everything I did someone might respond / be able to help.
My Configuration is Samba 3.0.2a as a PDC on Redhat 8. I cannot for the
life of me get the "Domain Admins" functionality to work
I am hoping that another set of eyes can shed some light on this problem
as I have now spent 41 hrs googling /

But if I use LDAP for both Samba and system auth.
The groups, what I added with base.ldif (idealx) exist in samba and system.

Admin user mapping problem (3.0.1)
Hi,
I upgraded our print server from 2.2.8 to 3.0.1 and have had trouble
subsequently. I can't add drivers with cupsaddsmb and have been trying
to investigate the root cause.
As far as I can tell, the appropriate administrative users aren't
working correctly. From a Windows workstation, logged in as the domain
admin, I expect to be able to change printer settings (e.g. Location or

Samba not honouring write/admin lists on shares
I'm running debian testing, so samba 3.05 atm. As of a few upgrades ago,
which i think coincided with a library restructure or somewhat samba is no
longer honouring read/write/admin lists on share definitions. Using the
below share as an example, previously all users could access the share with
read access, and those in the ntadmins group had write access. Since the
upgrade users can only

Cannot access Samba shares with local Administrator rights on XP
Hi,
I've got a strange problem and Google did not help :-(
I cannot access any Samba share if I have local Administrator rights
on my XP machine < access denied >. As soon as I change my rights to
something else (e.g. Power user, User), access works fine. This
behaviour only affects this one XP machine, all others work well, even
with local Admin rights.
Any clue?

Windows 'Administrator rights'
Hi,
I'm taking a look at installing Autocad 2005. The installation
program starts but then tells me I have to log in with administrator
rights. I looked through the config file (wine-20041019) but didn't
find anything that looks like it will enable Windows Administrator
rights. How can I get this to work?
Off to Google in parallel.
Thanks much,
Mark

how to get logon.bat run with Administrator rights in domain logons?
On win XP Pro workstations it would be so convenient if the domain logon script which is stored on
the samba pdc could be made to run with Administrative (or System) privileges.
I know that I can interactively run another security context by choosing "run as user" but how could
I achieve this non-interactively and domain wide whilst a "limited account" is loggin in?
Thanks

Which way is the best in term of charge ?

Logon script with Administrator rights
I am using a .bat logon script (the same for all users) and it avoids that I
have to configure each user manually. But now I have to run a command that
requires administrator rights on two files, and the command I write in the
.bat file doesn't work.
Do you know how to run the logon script as the local machine Administrator?
After all, the logon script is on the server and only me can

All of a sudden though I'm experience something really weird on one of the

particular Vista client, I get access denied and repeated prompts for a

allow them to update their windows boxes? I really can't believe this...

AW: Administrators and Users Rights for Windows workstations
Hi,
it's simple:
1.) put all users in YOURDOMAIN\Domain Users or YOURDOMAIN\Workstation Admins or what you would like
2.) put this group (YOURDOMAIN\Domain Users, YOURDOMAIN\Workstation Admins) into the local group
Administrators of each Workstation (you may use vbscript to automate this...)
