NSS/PAM LDAP Config
Ok, I've been literally throwing things in my effort to fix this. Please help me from damaging something valueable! :) I've installed Samba 3.0.22 and OpenLDAP etc. I've used the IDEALX scripts to create the LDAP tree etc. Everything goes swimmingly until I try to check and see if NSS/PAM is working right. I use the following command as shown in SBE to check NSS/PAM working. getent

smb.conf for Windows clients
So, I'm trying to paw through the long set of smb.conf options - and it's rather daunting. I'm wondering what smb.conf options are most important/appropriate/common for mostly Windows XP/7/(possibly v8) clients. Dovecot vs MBox
I'm still in the "what's wrong" stage of figuring out what's going on. But I've got a mail user who isn't getting new messages. Postfix accepts it and drops it in the users mbox. [This is verified. If I tail the Mbox, I can see the new messages.] "Mail" will see the messages too. But dovecot doesn't seem to know they exist. I don't think the MBox

NSCD, should it be used or not with LDAP, pam, nss
Again, another confusing issue in two how-to's I'm trying to resolve. In the SBE (samba-3 by example) Pg 161 in the PDF states. (It's actually page 200 of the PDF, but 161 of the numbered document pages.) "The name service caching daemon (nscd) is a primary cause of difficulties with name resolution, particularly where winbind is used." But the Authconfig in the IDEALX

Ubuntu compile/install location
Ok, while I'm usually more comfortable installing an RPM or DEB package and having the package maintainer handle all the details for me - I don't get a choice here. The latest Ubuntu 12.04 package is the Alpha18 release. So, I've compiled my own copy of Samba4.01 - and surprise, surprise, it went well. So the crux of the question is: Where should I install it to. [What directory.]

Unrecognized Samba service.
Hi, I installed CentOS 4.3 on my machine which comes with Samba 3.0.10pre-installed. I want to use the latest Samba 3.0.22, so I uninstalled Samba package (rpm -e samba, rpm -e samba-client, samba-common can not be removed due to the package dependency). I then downloaded Samba 3.0.22 and installed it on my machine. However, when I try to start samba service and got a "Unrecognized Samba

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
So that was really helpful for me to understand that a lot more clearly. Thanks! [Many, many thanks @Plutocrat!!] But I'm still getting a similar failure. Let me give the command I'm using. doveadm backup -D -u user at abc.net \ ssh root at po.abc.net \ docker exec b3093cxxxxxx doveadm sync -D -u user at abc.net The "local" server is where the data/mail currently is. T1/E1 Cards
This is probably a really bad question to ask but here goes. Does asterisk work with any of the T1/E1 cards from SBE? I'm sure SBE is a competitor to Digium, but I have access to SBE cards and the linux driver. Just curious more than anything. Thanks. -- Michael J. Namespace problem? duplicated folders...
Interesting. While I don't use mbox (dbox or maildir) I wouldn't think that would matter. Your namespace layout looks nearly the same as my own. But to verify what's going on - post the output of "doveconf namespace". Possibly just reviewing that output may tell you enough - otherwise share it (fully) here. -- Daniel On 1/23/2020 12:46 PM, Gregory Sloop wrote: >

Redhat Authconfig errors
Ok, I've got most everything setup, but I'm not able to confirm pam_ldap and nss_ldap are working properly. (Actually given the examples in SBE, they still appear to be returning information from local files rather than the ldap info.) I wanted to go back and check my authconfig and reset the parameters. However now when I do a authconfig I get this: ---- authconfig --enablecache

Yeah, I tried that already - and it seems to crash more badly... dsync-remote(use at abc.net)<mTEPAAUCvl4yFgAAb6OASA>: Panic: epoll_ctl(add, 0) failed: Operation not permitted (fd doesn't support epoll - instead of '<file', try 'cat file|') dsync-remote(user at abc.net)<mTEPAAUCvl4yFgAAb6OASA>: Error: Raw backtrace:

GPO / Sysvol problems
So, some updates. I started that email a couple of hours ago - but suddenly, without changing a thing, the test client/station is suddenly now getting the correct GPO details. Yet, I've not synced the sysvol or done anything to change or update the GPO on either DC. See inline... DTX mode using preprocessor?
Could a method be added to use the VAD from the preprocessor to send the packet with the 'dtx_enable' flag in it, so the decoder on the other end knows it's in dtx mode? (and SPEEX_GET_DTX_STATUS returns 1) At the moment, I can hack around it by doing something like: if (VAD for prev frame && ! VAD for this frame) { iArg = 0;

DC disaster recovery
Yeah, I could setup an extra XCP box - but at smaller setups, it really seems like overkill. So, it sounds like restores of the VM work "fine." How often do machine accounts reset their passwords? [This is the one that is most likely to be problematic. Rejoining the domain means a new profile. And that's a big PITA on the client side.] User password changes can simply be handled by

ATM with linux router
Does anyone here have experience with an ATM connection from their ISP running into a linux based router? We have a DS3 circuit for which we we thought we could use an SBE wanpci-1t3 card. The isp verified the card would work with their network, but apparantly didn''t cross check the particular circuit they were providing us. Is it possible to do the IP packet <-> ATM cell
