Windows XP Files Disapearing
When I mount a drive via Windows XP and copy a file via Samba, the file appears to be copied. When I refresh the window in Windows Explorer, however, it disappears! When I copy the *same* file a second time, Windows asks me if I want to *replace* the file (as if it were there but I just can't see it). I've attached the Samba drive to my Windows XP machine and I can see the file that I

Grandstream GXP 2010 : multiple accounts not working
On my Grandstream GXP 2010 I have the possibility for 6 channels and
thus 6 different accounts...
Line 1 I define an account that registers directly to an online
Asterisk-server, somewhere in a datacentre.
Line 2 I define an account that registers to the local Asterisk-server
(NSLU2 unslung)
When I activate both accounts, only the first account (to the
Asterisk-server on the internet) registers.

German Umlaut issue on uNSLUnged Linksys with Samba3
[sorry for my maybe newbie Qs and using this group for my busybox
issue but though having visited some forums about this I'm getting
nuts]
I unslugged a Linksys NSLU2 device with V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta as I
plan to use it as a DC replacement for my W2k server at home. But I
already got stuck before this.
Following the unslinging I installed the Samba3 IPKGs for the NSLU

file.access() on network (mounted) drive on Windows Vista?
Hi,
I have a writable and readable file on a small network file system
(Cisco NSLU2 Unslung; non-NTFS) that I access via a mounted drive on
Windows Vista. My problem could be due to a "funny" file
system/server, but here it goes:
> pathname <- "Q:/foo.txt"
> cat(file=pathname, "Hello world!\n")
> readLines(pathname)
[1] "Hello world!"

Windows link in linux share...
Well, I just did a dirty test:
* mklink link.txt "textfile.txt"
* mklink /D DIrLink "Directory"
* copied it to a samba share via Explorer (drag and drop).
* copied it to a Windows share via Explorer (drag and drop).
In both cases, it copied the contents of "textfile.txt" as "link.txt",
definitely not a symlink (windows or otherwise). Same with

I hope someone can enlighten me on the following phenomenon.
When I run rsync (3.0.2 or 3.0.4) from a (SH) script as follows:

Problem with xcopy /d & samba
A problem has arisen with the way samba handles file
creation dates compared to NT/win2k, which prevents
xcopy /d from working correctly.
On NT/Win2k, files copied from another NT machine using
xcopy end up with the modified dates equal to the original
modified date of the file, and the created and accessed
dates become the date of the xcopy operation.
On Samba, files copied from an NT

Asterisk on NSLU2 : Grandstream not registering
Hello there !
I have successfully installed Asterisk on a normal server and on a
Linksys WRT610N with DD-WRT running from connected USB-stick. This is
not my first Asterisk-installation. I'm always finding a smaller and
smaller platform to install Asterisk on.
But now I encounter a problem.
I'm using the same Grandstream GXP2010 with a of my installations. Every

Access Denied - XCopy from Win2K SP3 to Samba 3.0.8
Right in the middle of a big XCopy from Win2K SP3 to Samba 3.0.8 I get an "Access Denied" kicked back from XCopy and it ends. XCopy is building dirs from scratch on the Samba server - starting for a
clean empty share. XFS FS on the server, Debian Sarge.
I've heard of odd things with RoboCopy, but what about XCopy doing this? I suppose I will be cranking up the logs... or is there

xcopy failures
Hi
I had sent a mail about a week ago regarding a xcopy problem I had. I am
trying to copy an image of an nt workstation from an unixware 2.1.3 server
running samba 1.9.18p8. Initially the client is a dos client, who connects
to the unixware server and downloads files using xcopy. My problem after
copying a certain number of files xcopy fails with path not found. On
further investigation I

rsync failing with return code 13
Hi there,
I'm running rsync on an nslu2 (using nslu2-linux) and it keeps failing
with return code 13. The man page doesn't give a good description of
what this means ("Errors with program diagnostics") so could someone
give me a clue. as to what diagnostics rsync is running and reasons why
they might be failing? The only magic to note is the machine only has
32MB of ram so low

syncing file dates between windows nt4 and samba 3.0
Hi all,...

successfully keeping me from sleeping the last week. Basically, I am
running a DebianGNU/Linux based machine with samba 3.0.0 as a backup
server for an amount of Windows NT4 workstations. There is an old backup

BUG: 2.2.6 and dos recusive filecopy
Hi!
I've been using samba for some time now with about 20 users and with
remote installation of Windows XP from dos (TFTPboot image with dos
network drivers - ms client 1.6c).
On all releases (up to, and including 2.2.5) a recursive xcopy (from
dos) copied all files normally.
When I upgraded to samba 2.2.6, the recursive xcopy (win98 version of
xcopy.exe, copying from a mapped drive)

Use metadata files in Samba
Hello,
Often people (or applications) want to store additional information
about a file. E.g. history, approval state, search tags, etc. Some
file formats offer to integrate these metadata, some not (e.g. exif-
headers, id3, etc.).
My idea would be to create an additional <filename.xyz>.meta file next
to a <filename.xyz> in the same folder. If the <filename.xyz> gets

it doesn't work over here with win2ksrv (as client) and samba-2_2 CVS as

is xcopy /o supposed to work at all?
any hint will be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
