Samba over Debian Sarge 3.1 R1. This File server store MDBand XLS files.
Daniel, I am running Debian-sarge as well. I have one samba server that serves as my PDC and one samba server that is a domain member server. Now, I'm a newbie, still learning, and I probably wouldn't know if the performance on our servers is good or not. So, please take this for what it is worth (probably not much). I have only 7-10 XP clients that access these servers, and folks

Best way to Upgrade Samba 3.014a
Hello, I have Samba 3.014a-Debian in a server Debian 3.1 Release 1 Sarge. The performance is pretty poor. My LAN is running at 100mbits/sec. So even at 4 feet from the server I'm getting slow responses on my windoze 2000 pro computer from samba. It takes an eternity to copy files from one place to the other. Also, I have several error messages and files corruption. Could anybody tell me

"All resource specifications require names": wot?
Hi, everyone -- I downloaded puppet and have been playing with it. I''m using the RPM''s for RHE4 created by David (mentioned on the install page: http://people.redhat.com/dlutter/yum/rhel4/) with RHE''s ruby 1.8.1-7: ruby-1.8.1-7.EL4.8 ruby-libs-1.8.1-7.EL4.8 ruby-devel-1.8.1-7.EL4.8 I''m sure this is an easy one; all the same, I''m stumped.

iproute v2.6.15 20060110 kernel 2.4.31-gentoo-r1 ip route show do es not show all routes?
I am using policy based routing and I have 3 route tables setup, ADSLLink1, ADSLLink2, and ADSLLoadBalanced, "ip route show <table>" will show me the routes that I have added to the first two, but not from ADSLLoadBalanced, it will show the last route that was added to the table but no others. There are approx 16 routes added to the table, I know they are there because they work,

ePrompter help (wine 0.9.5-r1 on Gentoo)
Anyone familiar with ePrompter? It's a nice little e-mail checker that floats in the system tray. Anyway, I have it running under Wine, it appears to load fine and everything, but for some reason it can't seem to connect to the internet. I don't have a lot of experience with software config under Linux, and I know almost nothing about Wine...does anyone have any suggestions on this?

puppetd 0.24.7-r1 has lots of close_wait connections
Hi folks I know that has, to some degree, been run over the past year in different ways, but, I may have yet another instance of an issue on this. The puppetmaster system and the puppet system are both running 0.24.7-r1, on a gentoo system. Other puppet systems are running 0.24.4. The puppet system (not the puppetmaster system) that is running 0.24.7-r1 is showing multiple close_wait

wine-20010305 MS Excel97 *.xls -> .xls.xls
Hi, If I open up a worksheet in MS Excel 97, the file name is modified by appending an extra .xls to the name. Multiple .xls's are possible, and it is not necessary to save the worksheet. I'm running Wine-20010305 compiled on a SuSE 7.0 running a stock 2.4.2 Linux kernel. MS Excel is being run from an existing Win98 system partition. Thought someone might want to know, Dick --
