Help with "net groupmap", users of groups don't have permits
In a Sarge Kernel 2,6 running Samba 3 as PDC security=user, I turned with "net groupmap modify..." the English language of the names of the groups of dominio NT to the Spanish, so these are compatible with the Spanish version of each W9x. Everything it did without problems with script downloaded from Internet. But in the list of users and groups of the window "Share..." in

Samba - Problem Connecting PCs
Hi, I want to setup Samba as a new PDC. I followed the instructions on IBM's site (http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/esdd/tutorials/samba/index.html) The problem I currently have is that Windows 9X boxes can't connect to the Mandrake 9.1 Bamboo box. However, I can make connections on localhost to localhost using smbclient //localhost/share -U username I've tried a couple of different

smbpasswd backend, group-per-user, and primary gid not a domain group
After changing from 2.x to 3.0 I get these messages: rpc_server/srv_util.c:get_domain_user_groups(376) get_domain_user_groups: primary gid of user [fred] is not a Domain group ! get_domain_user_groups: You should fix it, NT doesn't like that I understand why this is: fred's group needs to be mapped like so net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Users" unixgroup=<fred's

W9x doesn't download printer drivers
My W9x clients cannot download printer driver from samba 3.0.2rc1 with cups 1.1.17, while w2k clients do. The W9x clients open the Add Printer Wizard, connect to print$ share, request the ADOBEPS4.DRV file, but they stop at the beginning of the download. Permissions on print$\WINNT\0 directory are the same as print$\W32X86\2. cupsaddsmb was successful. I sniffed the packets while client was

Printing problems with w2k clients
We have a strange problem with our w2k clients: We use two Samba server (one is PDC and the other is Print-Server - operate in security=server mode with password server=PDC). All printers are configured on the Print-Server with the Windows NT Printer Wizzard: uploading driver for W9x, NT 4.0 and W2k; setting misc. options, like Paper feeder and so on .. . So far so good! Printing from W9x and NT

a question of alphabetical order
Hi all, In Spanish vowels with accent like ?, ?, ... doesn't affect to the alphabetical order of vector of strings. I mean, a or ? don't matter for establishing the alphabetical order. Nevertheless, while working with R order, here is what I get. Given a file transport.txt medio#variable avi?n#34 barco#33 bicicleta#3 ?ngulo#37 cami?n#54 coche#23 tren#67 > toPlot <-

two printers: one works ok in w9x/2k, other printer unavailable in Win98 BUT ok in w2k!
Hi all, I try to explain my strange Samba problem: I've done a linuxbox with Mandrake 8.2 distro; installed Samba 2.2 packages and two printers attached via parallel port: one works with the motherboard built-in parallel port, the other is connected via a pci parallel port card. Both works fine on win2000 clients (and on the linuxbox, too :); on windows 98 clients, both printers are

Upgrading from 3.0.23 but group_mapping.tdb is empty on current config
Hi all, I've done a serious amount of reading around this but I still can't figure out the implications of what I'm seeing. I have inherited a CentOS 4 Samba 3.0.23 PDC & file server for 40 hosts that has been through the wars. It is standalone and stable and uses the smbpasswd file authentication backend, however I need to upgrade for Windows 7 support. I intend to build a

HELP !!! migrating from win2000 pdc to linux pdc
Hello, Second post: first had logs attached but was too big. I have a test environment with 1 windows 2000 AD domain pdc ( mixed mode install ), 1 linux server ( to become pdc ) and a win xp box to test logon when the migration was completed. The problem is no matter what I try after the migration the win xp's logonserver = windows server not linux server. I have no idea what is going

Windows ACL behaviour in standalone fileservers (LDAP vs TDB)
Hi, I'm building and managing standalone fileservers (security = user) with various passdb backends. I'm noticing different behaviour of Windows ACLs for servers with LDAP and TDB passdb backends. In a LDAP backed server (which I started with) I can freely add filesystem permissions (eg for groups) to objects (files/folders) via the Windows (7) permissions editor. In a TDB backed

build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! affecting samba group mapping?
Hi, when using pdbedit -L <user> we get an error > build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username <user> with uid <uid> is not in unix passwd database! > Username not found! This is because a user is not - as it says - in e.g. /etc/passwd. Does this affect the functionality of group mappings in the way that this doesn't work with the mapped unixgroup

Problem with duplicated groups?
Hello, i have some problems migrating a Windows 2000 PDC to a Debian GNU/Linux Samba Server, i want to migrate it to a LDAP backend.. but as i'm kind of newbie with ldap and samba migration stuff, i preffered to migrate it to tdbsam first and try it for a while, if everything works fine, then switch to a ldap backend. The problem is that Essential Windows Groups are automatically created, so

After Upgrading to rc4 (and still with 3.0.0) having Groupmap problems.
Hi, Before Samba 3.0.0 RC4 I was running Samba 3.0.0 beta3, and when I upgraded to RC4, I began having problems with group mappings. I didn't notice at first, because on my laptop I don't normally log on to the domain. I just noticed when I tried to use my desktop and log on to the domain... I don't have Domain Admin privileges. So, I look at 'net groupmap list' ... and it

Domain Admin with tdbsam on 3.0.2a
Firstly I apologise for the length of this query but I am hoping that if I document everything I did someone might respond / be able to help. My Configuration is Samba 3.0.2a as a PDC on Redhat 8. I cannot for the life of me get the "Domain Admins" functionality to work I am hoping that another set of eyes can shed some light on this problem as I have now spent 41 hrs googling /

Samba 3.0alpha24 / OpenLDAP / support for groups broken?
Hello! we are trying to get Samba 3.0a24 to work with OpenLDAP. After creating the guest - user manually in the LDAP directory, everything seemed to work fine. However we cannot create any group. The "net group map" command runs without any error message, and states: blue# ./net groupmap add rid=999 unixgroup=syadm Successully added group syadm to the mapping db

Migrate to Debian Etch - nogo
Hi Everyone, I have a small project going on. I'm about to migrate Redhat 7.3 to Debian Etch (smbd version 3.0.23d-2+b1). I've already managed to migrate Redhat 7.3 to Debian Sarge (smbd version 3.0.14a-) without any bigger problems. However, when I migrate to Etch I face a small problem. The last thing I want to do before I start samba is to grant my linux/samba admin, NT 'Domain

rc3 net groupmap add fails
Relevant part of "net3 groupmap list" is System Operators (S-1-5-21-1617713866-2789119093-1479812082-1007) -> sys In howto there is the following example net groupmap modify ntgroup="System Operators" unixgroup=sys net groupmap modify ntgroup="Power Users" unixgroup=sys You can add System Operators but trying to add Power Users fails. If you do it in reverse
