Read-only attribute.
Hi, I'm having problems with setting the read-only attribute of a file via windows. Altough no erros are shown in the client, the file dosn't stick to it read-only settings. I've found some post on the matter, but none seemed to solve the problem. Any ideas? Samba Permissions Problem
I need help understanding what is happening and trouble shooting. I have two servers running Samba 2.3.3, one as a Domain Controller one as a Member Server. Both are running Ubuntu 8.10. smbd, nmbd and winbindd using the tdb back end are running on both. I have two shares on the member server and as far as I can tell they are identical. Share authentication problem
Hi @ll ! I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get /wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/. I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS -Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors : /SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

Groups not recognized
I've got an issue with a fresh (and I mean really fresh) 3.0.5 + ldap server where doesn't seem to recognize unix group membership. The server was 2.2.8a last night and things were working. The unix side works flawlessly, in other words if I log in as myself I can get where I need to, but under samba I get nothing. Here's some supporting info: my group membership information:

Dovecot + SpamAssassin through dovecot-antispam
Hello, I am new to the list. /Waving at everyone/ I got a basic SpamAssassin working on a Debian setup (w/ debian-spamd user), running as a Postfix transport. I am currently trying to switch it to a dovecot plugin in order to make it interactively work with the email storage (react to mail classification, being able to train it from already received emails, aso.) My problem is now making it

File Permissions
Hello I trying to grasp the file permissions on Linux. I have Samba installed and functioning properly... I think I understand perimission in this environment with one exception: I need to add more than one group to a file/folder. With Windows..the security tab would allow any number of Groups and each group could have different permissions. (As well with files and subdirectories). With

User groups
Wlcome in the club :-) I wrote a topic "Limit of group membership for a user?" with the same problem, and I don't have any answer by the samba team. I have the most recent Samba 3.0.21b, OpenLDAP 2.2.28 and Glibc 2.3.6 version on a Gentoo (kernel 2.6.15) and I have the same problem. I check the NGROUP_MAX (65535) and the NSS_BUFLEN_GROUP (2048) value of the glibc. For the AMD64

Not able to join domain
I'm trying to set up Samba 3.0.20-4-SUSE on a opensuse 10 machine. I'm working with XP Pro on the client machine. I can't get the XP mahcine (RDS7) to join the domain (UCD). It asks for a user when trying to join and then says it cannot find it. Fwd: Samba semantics error?
Hello, I have this bug report that I have filed. Is there any specific reason why samba behaves this way, and doesn't use the unix semantics? Since this is even more restrictive than unix semantics, I'm more inclined to call it a bug until I know it's supposed to be this way. Any ideas? ----- Forwarded message from Mike Fedyk <mfedyk@matchmail.com> ----- From: Mike Fedyk
