Howto? 2 interfaces, same network, same gateway
Hello
Summary:
I have ifplugd managing eth0 and wlan0 (both dhcp). When I plug in the cat5
(which brings up eth0) applications which have already bound to wlan0 stop
working, obviously because wlan0 for some reason is unable to get non-local
packets out that interface.
I figured if poodoze is able to have both interfaces working, then linux must
surely be able to do it as well.

[PATCH] `smbclient -M' ignores `-p port'
Peter:
Thanks! It now works fine on Solaris 2.6. Now I just need to remember how
to manipulate source RPMs so I can fix the Linux (RedHat 6.x) version. :-)

Patches for samba 3.0.0 client/client.c
Patch against samba 3.0.0 client/client.c
Mainly for -L parameter options
1.) Add a configurable connection delay. The default is too long.
Add items to long_options of poptOption for help message, however I
just put something "i.e. CONNSETUP" to the last parameter of
long_options. It seems for use of documentation ????
2.) Remark the code that require list_servers must using port

odd swat issues, odd printer issue, odd crashes..
Before I start, can you CC me if you respond as im not subscribed. thanks!
(this is samba 3.0.4 on suse enterprise linux, kernel 2.6.5)
first, the swat issue.
I had a machine that had 2 network interface cards in it.
I have since removed one card, mainly because it caused weird performace
issues unrelated to samba.
the interface addresses were 192.168.0.200 and 192.168.0.201

UNICAST cross-subnet browsing, Port 445 vs. 139, and Win2k
I have been having a heck of a time getting cross subnet browsing to work
properly. After MANY hours hunting through source and debug logs, I have
FINALLY found the source of my browsing issues.
My Samba nmdb properly becomes the LMB for my segment on a WAN. I VPN to my

Using print$ / timeouts to port 445...
Hi...
I have set up my smb.conf to use the print$ directive, and have shared
3 printers. I sucesfully added the printer drivers to the host, and can
use them. But - opening up the printer connection from the windows host
is slow, and causes the printer 'status' window to say 'initializing'.
While that happens, my samba.log shows :

Why does the server want to connect to a client
Hi,
I have 5 of 140 Windows XP SP2/SP3 machines that make problems when printing.
The client open the printer dialog and it takes a long time (up to 1 minute)
before it appears. Printing is slow, too. Meanwhile I see the following
messages (repeating several times) in the client log:
[2008/11/21 08:17:28, 1] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_out(888)
timeout connecting to 10.1.0.253:445

Windows printing problems to Samba3.2
Help! I'm in the process of migrating my companies Windows NT print
server to Samba 3.2. (yea) But I'm running into a few problems. (boo)
I've searched the archives and google with no success...
I have about 15 clients testing out the new server, mainly Win2k. Some
work fine, but others have problems connecting, getting the "Unable to
Connect" message in the printer folder.
