Home dirs problem
Hello,
I have a question about mapping users home directory's to samba.
The homedir layout is based on an old one used on NIS+ system. The
structure is something like:
/users
/group1
/user1
/user2
...
/group2
/user3

Trouble with Homes
I am having trouble with getting my Homes section to work properly.
When I browse to the server from a Windows client, I can see my home
directory. However, when I try to access it, it challenges me for a
userID and password. No matter what I enter, I will not allow me
access. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this?
Here are the errors...

hiding dot files and the printer
Hi. Running Samba 3.0.20 on Slackware 10.2.
I cannot hide my unix dot files (.bash_history) using the 'hide files' or
'veto files' settings:
hide files = /.*/ { or just .* }
Also, how do I get rid of the printer folder in the top level of my share?

Upgraded from 3.0.9 -> 3.0.21b - Now adding machines aproblem
Yes, I had a similar problem when I upgraded from 3.0.9 -> 3.0.21b.
After upgrading I could not add machines. It would find the PDC and then
prompt me for a user/password, I would enter it and I got user not found
error message. If I typed the password incorrect then I would get
Username/Password incorrect error message. My logs showed that I was
authenticating OK. So only thing I could think

LDA + Postfix + LDAP + Sieve (Vacation): Wrong Domain in Reply
Hello everyone.
I'm running dovecot (1.2.9) with postfix (2.7.0) on an ubuntu 10.04.1.
I'm hosting mail for several domains and using the dovecot local
delivery agent. Everything has been working great.
However, today I set up a sieve script to send out-of-office replies
(vacation) for one of our users. I tested it and got the response just
fine. However, when looking at the

ActionMailer - Message-id issue

With Outlook 2003 SP2''s new "anti-phishing" feature, it''s tagging all
of these e-mails as junk. I tried sending the same content from my

Presence
I have to agree.
A large number of people are looking for this feature. I have written a web
script that can show Agent logged into the system.
I think integration/gateway between Asterisk and Jabber would be a amazingly
wonderful product.
There is always MSN.

Home Lan computer browser(s)
Reading this list makes me think my questions are child's play for ya'll.
*/1) //Should I have more than one "computer browser" on my lan /*/(~16
machines)/*/?/*
I'd read someplace that I should have 1 primary and 1 backup computer
browser for up to 32 computers and then another backup browser for each
additional 32 computers. IF this is true then I'd still like to

Skype-to-Asterisk(SIP): progress
I'm sitting in the Emerging Telephony Conference, so this seems a
particularly apt place to pre-announce this...
I've wanted to be able to gateway calls between Skype and Asterisk
for a while, which of course would require some type of protocol
converter (IAX or SIP to Skype, probably.) This of course is
directly not in Skype's interest, since they would like to keep the
network

Enforcing local profile doesn't let Home Directory mapping
Dear all,
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Server 64-bit edition and I am trying to
enforce Local profile for all users and below is my smb.conf file.
According to the samba documentation, leaving the logon home and logon
path values to empty will enforce local profiles, it worked. But, my
main requirement is when users login their home directories are mapped
and they appear in My Computer window so they

Detecting a programm runs using Wine
Is there absolutelu no (unofficial) way to detect whether a programm is running using Wine?
In this way a programm could decide to use other routines for those features that do not work fine using Wine.

how to join calls - not barge?
I'd like to have an extension "join" a call. That is, C can join A and
B, just as if it were an analog extension phone.
ChanSpy works, sort of. The problem is that once A or B hangs up, the
channel is gone. With an analog extension, C would remain connected with
B if A hung up.
Can I throw A and B into a confbridge and then add C? Create a new
channel that grabs the A

Would you please update the URL? It should point people to
