DENY_MODE problem...
Hello!
I sent this message to samba-technical yesterday but as I saw no response
(not even a RTFM ;), I'm crossposting.
I just need some help to track down this bug. I can write a patch if I can
find the guilt...

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a
couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users
told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly
sometimes.
I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags
related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to
be solved yet.

Samba and file locking
Hi there,
Let me first tell you our setup....
I'm at a school (actually 2 but who is counting) with approx 1000 students in a NT domain. In the past we have had problems with students consuming more diskspace than was intended. First we tried to enforce a quota using kix, but the little 'rats' soon figured a way around that. To overcome that we started using an Linux setup with

High cpu load
Server is PII-350MHz/256 MB RAM, hardware mirrored high speed SCSI disks.
Installed is SuSE 8.2 with Samba 2.2.8a RPM, XFS filesystems and LPRng as
printservices. Server acts as PDC and WINS server.
Clients are W2K SP2 (a few with SP3). There are +/- 100 clients.
We see a server that is 100% busy and we see during a long time a very high CPU
load (60- 95%) related to one W2K client. When

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order
to get better performance with an Access Database, which along
with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that
working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus.
When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't.
The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't
really. The

Win7 clients problem after upgrading samba file server to 4.12 on Arch
Did you note the very second you saw the offending error message?
That time would help a lot, I can't see the error packet.
But all that said, I'm not the person who needs to look at this, I just
hoped I could help get you the information they would need.
The only other suggestion, other than the build on master in the hope
this has already been fixed, is if you do find you can build

windows 10 locking profile files
I am running samba 4.5.1 on Ubuntu 16.04. The samba server is running as an AD DC and stores the user profiles, the clients are all windows 10 professional.
One user reported being locked out of the profile pretty regularly. After investigating the case I saw that a lot of files in the profile are still locked even after logging out and shutting down the system. After restarting the samba server,

[samba 4.0] read only = yes + Denymode DENY_WRITE
Hello,
Our samba fileserver is a member of a Windows 2008R2 domain, and has
different shares. These shares are set with a "read only = yes" and have
an explicit "write list". This works as planned.
But when an "read only" user opens a pdf with Adobe acrobat, the file
gets DenyMode DENY_WRITE and the user who can edit the file can't save
the document anymore.

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello
I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000
and WindowsXP machines.
All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the
domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares
and print etc.
But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the
attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

Win2k, Domain logon, permissions
I first asked this question at the end of October, got a response which
didn't solve the problem, and have finally got back to the issue now.
I'm running 2.2.7a, recently upgraded from 2.2.0 as Domain Logons for
Win2K were suspected to be part of my problem. Anyway, the issue
relates to AutoCAD (actually a vertical product called Land3) and a
command which works with winXX boxes, but
