Browse List propagation under Samba
I am using Samba version 3.0.10-1.fc2.
It is configured as an NT domain controller and has been working well. I
needed to add a routed (over VPN) connection to the system but cannot
get the routed clients to access the browse list. The clients are all
Windows XP professional. The remote client is not a domain member. All
clients work when directly connected to the Samba server (broadcast),

Samba WINS issues over VPN
I am running Samba 3.4.8 as a PDC on Solaris 10. I recently made this
the WINS master- previously the BDC (Samba 3.0.37 on another Solaris 10
server.)
I also use Sonicwall ipsec VPN for remote access (Windows XP clients.)
The sonicwall client creates a virtual NIC on the client so that the
client can have an IP address directly on the company LAN (ie. the same
LAN as the samba

Can someone help? Strange behaviour of establishing trust
Hello all,

I'm trying to establish a interdom trust with a w2k domain (POLY):
[root@centosbdc ~]# net rpc trustdom establish POLY

Errors when NT4sp3 is the client; 95 works
I am trying to get Samba 2.0.3 up on MacOSXServer (which is BSD 4.4). I
can't get NT to recognize samba shares. Samba is running as security=server,
pointed to an NT PDC for security (using the netbios name; should this be by
ip address?); passwords are encrypted.
I can use smbclient to attach to my own samba shares. I can also attach to
other NT shares as a client and view network lists.

Cross-Subnet Browsing Problem
Hi all,
I've had cross-subnet browsing working in Samba in the past, though I
tend to struggle with it each time I set it up. For whatever reason, I
can't seem to get things working this time.
Summary: Only my desktop, not the file server, shows up in the desktop's
Network Neighborhood. (I have left the machines running for several
hours, in case there's a time-to-sync issue

Windows XP Browsing Problems
Hi,
I upgraded first to samba rc 4 and now to the newest CVS Version, because
all my Windows XP Professional Clients cannot browse the network neigborhood
anymor. Also mapping is not possible.
What have I done wrong???
I have installed the Registry-Keys and all are domainmembers.
Windows XP Home does work. Something to do with domain settings???

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am writing to ask your help with a problem whereby 3 NT4.0 +

browsing service cannot get the list of domain resources (the reply to
NetServerEnum2) from the master browser (when the boxes are
functioning as backup browsers).
The situation is :-

Does anyone know why sometimes a PDC appears in the Network neigborhood, and sometimes it doesn't?
The subject says it all, I think. At home I have a PDC (Linux with Samba), and
I have Win98 and Win 95(!) clients. And sometimes the domain name (workgroup
name) is visble in the Network neigborhood, and sometimes it is not. I also
got the impression that placing a link in the file NETHOOD makes a
difference, but I am not sure yet. The PDC is visible, that is, it can be
PINGed, I can connect

NT machines can't see each other
I recently set up Samba on a sparc 2 running sun os 4.1.3. It's set up as
the browse master.
We have a few PC's running NT, 95, & 98. On the NT machines, only the
unix box shows up in the network neigborhood. Win95 & 98 are a little
weirder: some machines show up and others don't.
Any ideas on where to start? I've read the browsing docs and everything
looks correct.

Browsing problem
Hi,
I've got a browsing problem, I'm searching the error for a long time now
so I think betimes it's a bug ;-)
For debugging purposes, I've left away everything in the network that's
not necessary. There's now only one XP-Prof workstation (domain member)
and one samba server (3.0.22, acting as PDC) anymore.
Bind9 is the local DNS server; Forward and PTR entries are

Samba 3.5.6 - Windows 2008r2 domain trust fail
Hi,
I'm trying to configure a Domain trust between Samba 3.5.6 (TEST domain)
and Windows 2008 r2 (WTEST Domain). Samba is the trusting side and Windows
is the trusted side. I created the "incoming trust" in the W2K8 called TEST.
Then I executed the "net rpc trustdom establish WTEST" and got:
Enter TEST$'s password:
Could not connect to server W2K8SERVER

Samba & Active Directory Trust
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello All,
I'm having an issue creating a two-way trust relationship between my
Samba Domain and a Windows 2003 Active Directory Domain. Here is a
summary of my environment:
Samba 3.0.14a
OpenLDAP 2.0.23-7
Debian Woody
Active Directory 2003 (running in mixed mode)
Windows 2003
The trust works fine from AD -> Samba:

Can't initialise locking module - exiting
Afternoon,
I'm running OpenBSD 3.1, and since being informed that since 2.2.3a
contains a bug I should upgrade to 2.3.4 - which I've done.
I've installed this from source, and havn't seen any reason to believe
the build process didn't work properly (Other than having duplicated
binaries in /usr/local/samba/bin/ and
in /usr/source_distributions/samba-2.2.4/source/bin/smbd
