Cannot share MSAccess DB after upgrade 3.0.5 to 3.0.8
This is really strange. The samba server in question is a domain member server on a Windows NT 4.0 Domain network. It runs Gentoo 2004.3 with a 2.4.24 kernel. The Gentoo server was upgraded from Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.8 last night. After the upgrade, the server had to be re-joined to the domain. After that, everything appeared to be working. This morning we found that the MSAccess database files

MSAccess file locking problems on Linux
I'm running Slackware 7.0 (glibc finally!) with Samba 2.0.5a, and having MSAccess97 (I know, doesn't scale, etc, but that's where we are) file and disk errors when multiple people try to access the database (from Win NT clients). Simpler single-user file serving is working fine (excel, text files, gifs), directory speeds are fine, copy speeds are fine. This database works fine when

MSAccess file locking problems
I'm running Samba 2.0.5a on Slackware Linux 7.0. I have a large (>250meg) Access database sitting on a samba share. I ran this setup on an NT share with 3 computers hitting the database (all as my username), and had worked around all the Access locking problems inherent in Access Multi-user databases. Since moving to the Samba share, I am getting alot of errors, mostly disk/network

samba and msaccess help please
Hopefully this is a samba question, and not a Microsoft Access question... I have a multiuser access database on a samba share... it worked fine with multiple users being able to connect to it at the same time no probs. I just upgraded the linux box to red hat 6, copied across the same smb.conf from before and now users are getting a error "Too many active users" when more than one

No License error message when running MSAccess via Wine
Does any one out there running MicroSoft Access 97 get this message when they try to run it via Wine ? "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine" I get this message, despite the fact I have a perfectly legal copy of Access on my machine, and it runs perfectly, and has been for years, from windows. I am running linux Fedora FC5, and wine

msaccess odbc driver not working
I have problems import ms access 2000 data into Word 2000. The error is: DDE connection failed. Browsing the internet I found out that ms access uses ODBC for this (am I correct?). I have installed MDAC_TYP.EXE like in the Winehq documentation. I think that the msaccess driver doesn't work o.k. To reproduce: Run wine c:\windows\system\ODBCAD32.EXE --> in

Using MSAccess to dial on a Zap line
Hello, We use MS Access 2000 (I know, we're migrating away from it) as an application to automatically dial phone numbers. The old phone system we have allowed the call representative using the application to take their phone off hook, push a button in the app, and the app would send the phone number to the phone system and dial the number. We are moving to Asterisk for our main phone

problem adding printer driver
Hi, I am attempting to configure our samba server for print driver download. The server itself was installed from RedHat 7.3 and has been configured to used cups instead of lpd/lprng. After studying the documentation on cups/samba, I decided to try the Adobe driver install. I used the cupsaddsmb program to perform the driver install, which works fine except for the "rpcclient

No joy adding a CUPS printer
I'm trying to change my Samba setup from LPD to CUPS, with little success. I've followed [and re-followed] the setup documentation from CUPS and I just can't get Samba to recognize my printer. The catch is - it sort of recognizes it :-( First I added these lines to my smb.conf: ========================================= [global] load printers = yes printing = cups printcap name =
