Guaranteed rate per class and maximum ceiling per element in class???
Hi all, It is my understanding that with HTB, the rate and the ceiling are divided over the elements of the class. E.g. using a rate of 100 kb and a ceiling of 2000 kb for a class with 10 elements on a 100Mb NIC, the effect of the ceiling will be that if all elements are generating their maximimum possible trafic they will be effectively limited to ~ ceiling / number of elements, in this case

[PATCH] vhost: scsi: notify TCM about the maximum sg entries supported per command.
vhost-scsi pre-allocates the maximum sg entries per command and if a command requires more than VHOST_SCSI_PREALLOC_SGLS entries, then that command is failed by it. This patch lets vhost communicate the max sg limit when it registers vhost_scsi_ops with TCM. With this change, TCM would report the max sg entries through "Block Limits" VPD page which will be typically queried by the SCSI

Determining maximum hourly slope per day
Hello, I have a challenge! I have a large dataset with three columns, "date","temp", "location". "date" is in the format %m/%d/%y %H:%M, with a "temp" recorded every 10 minutes. These temperatures of surface temperatures and so fluctuate during the day, heating up and then cooling down, so the data is a series of peaks and troughs. I would like

Maximum number of files per folder
Hello list, we have a small NAS-Box here in our office, running Linux 2.6.13 and Samba 3 (exactly version string is not avalilable for me at moment). Is there a limit, how many files samba will store in one folder? We recognize a massive CPU-Load of the smbd-process, when accessing a folder which stores round about 60 000 small text-files. Is this a samba-Limit or a bug? The kernel and samba is

Maximum number of entries in a filter file
We are using rsync to maintain a backup of some relatively large file systems, around 3 million files, but in an effort to save space have decided that some files should not be synchronised. In order to do this we have created a filter file containing the list of files to exclude. This filter file is created on what is ultimately the destination end of the synchronisation so we first copy

R Configuration Variable: Maximum Memory Allocation per R Instance
Dear R Developers, In the same way that MySQL/MariaDB's Engine InnoDB or MyISAM/Aria have the innodb_buffer_pool_size or the key_buffer_size for setting the maximum amount of RAM which can be used by a Server Instance: ?Would it be possible to create an R Configuration Variable which fixes the maximum amount of RAM memory to be used as Commit / Dynamic Memory Allocation? Thank you. Juan

Is there a maximum number of shares samba can serve?
I am being asked to determine the feasibility of serving hundreds (300-400) of directories as individual shares instead of sharing a single parent directory. Personally, I don't think this is a good idea. Clients will go from having a single connection to a single share to 50-300 connections to multiple shares. That can't be good for performance or load. I've searched the mailing

anchoring of patterns for per-directory merge files
Hi, I'm extremely confused about anchoring of patterns for per-directory merge files, as what I see seems to not be the behaviour the documentation suggests. On the receiver side I have rsync version 3.0.3 protocol version 30. On the sender I have rsync version 2.6.9 protocol version 29. I'm calling: rsync --filter='dir-merge /.rsync-filter' -avz --delete \ --numeric-ids

Missing files in directory listings
Hi A customer of mine has a strange problem with samba 2.2.8a They have a number of directories with 600 - 800 files in each directory. When new files are added to the directories, and they do a directory listing on their PC's ( Win 2000 pro SP2 and SP3 ), the last 10 files are not shown. THis happens both when using "explorer" or doing a `dir` in an command prom window. The

Per-directory quotas
We are running Samba right now to provide user home directories to Windows users. We are using basic user quotas on the /home partition to limit disk usage. But, soon we will be adding additional directories, user, and groups to allow data sharing among 'workgroups'. We will still need to limit disk usage, but doing this via the rather crude group quota system won't do. Has

Performance issue on AIX when deleting files in a directory with a large number of files
Server: - AIX5.3 with JFS2 file systems - IBM pSeries 520 (1.9GHz p5+ CPU) - Samba 3.0.22 (and the same problem exists in 3.0.21a) - I tested Samba compiled from sources with GCC 4.0.2 and 3.4.3 same result for both. I also downloaded the AIX binary from http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/ and it has the same problem as well. Client: MS Windows XP SP2 We have an application that

Maximum file size??
Hi there, I'm running Redhat Linux V8.0 using ext3 file system and I'm wondering what the maximum file size allowed is? I've got some potentially humunguous logfiles I need to store that could likely be around 4-8GB per day and just want to make sure I don't run into problems. TIA! Kevin Cavanagh

Per-directory .cvsignore too aggressive
I have noticed that the contents of per-directory .cvsignore files apply outside their subtrees when using --cvs-exclude in rsync 2.6.0. In the results below, notice how dir1/.cvsignore is applying to a file in dir2. There is no ~/.cvsignore, and the CVSIGNORE variable is unset. % ls -AFR .: dir1/ dir2/ ./dir1: .cvsignore file1 ./dir2: file2.foo % cat dir1/.cvsignore *.foo % /usr/bin/rsync
