Wine NT Services / Serial Port
Hi!
I'm currently working on a project to upgrade my car's display with NAV...
Due to prohibitive high costs of oem solutions (and limited use except for
nav), I decided to use a laptop, runnig that software...
So, I already have MS Autoroute 2001 (european version). Against my
expectations, this program runs fine with Wine release 20011004. However,
the GPS Add-In doesn't work.

(I believe this fantastic product is marketed also under the names
MapPoint and "Street and Trips" depending on market and target).
I had wine setup done by winetools:
basic setup, ie6, arial, ms installer.
i installed the product directly from cd (*)
the installer forced an update on the system (to update its office

Why ${EXTEN} variable changes after Goto ?
Hi,
I'm trying to implement dynamic routing of incoming calls to local extension
if previous outgoing call was unanswered.
But after I do Goto to s-NOANSWER, variable ${EXTEN} changes to
's-NOANSWER'. I guess this is normal, but I don't understand why ? How to
workaround on this one ?
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Rob.

app troubleshooting
After reading up on winebottler it seems like a good alternative to virtualbox as I only need the odd windows program so far. Not being an IT tech or geek but not stupid either I thought I would give it a go. Also new to mac, the first think lacking in the mac version was quicken 2009 rental manager. I followed the instructions, put the app in applications and voila it works!!! (well, opens up ok

implementing ecological models in R
Hi all,
we found, that R is not only *the* superior data analysis, graphics and
statistics package, but it is also a general tool for implementing,
running and teaching ecological models. Last week we held our second
course "Modelling in Limnology" using R. Some material (code and docs)
was produced for this purpose and may be interesting to someone else, so
I put the tutorial

Problems accessing files with (lib)smbclient
Hi!
Seems like I need some help with a really awkward problem I stumbled over
today. In a remote access solution I developed, a Perl CGI script accesses
a Windows NT 4.0 Server through Filesys::SmbClient and thus libsmbclient.
Browsing the shares and the directories works perfectly but as soon as I
try to get any file, it fails with a "Permission denied", even if I try it
with the

smbclient, DFS and not_defined_in_RFC4178 [samba 3.4.7 and windows 2003 sp2 AND 2008 sp2]
Hi all,
I'm trying to use DFS. Using smbclient 3.4.7 (distributed with Lucid) and windows servers with both 2008sp2 and 2003sp2.
Smbclient successfully lookups up our DCC's. If the first in the DNS reply is a 2003 server it works but if I get a 2008 it doesn't.
The main differences is that I get a "not_defined_in_RFC4178 at please_ignore" principal in the SMB Negotiate

Optimal File Permissions for Shared Access Between Windows and Linux
Hi Rowland,
Thanks to your guidance, I?ve set up permissions for all directories and
files under |/mnt/shared| as follows:
* *Directories* have ```|drwxr-xr-x| permissions and are owned by
|root:root|.```
* *Files* are set to ```|rw-------|, also with |root:root```|
ownership, except for executables, which have the necessary |rwx|
permissions.

CentOS 7, samba-4.4.4-14.el7_3 and openldap-2.4.40-13.el7 -- file permissions?
I am setting up Samba on a standalone CentOS 7 server (using LDAP with
openldap for authentifcation) and things and somewhat working. There is a bit
of weirdness though. smbclient is only able to access *directories* and not
any of the files. Why is that? What am I missing?
Here is a log of a test run:
[heller at c764guest: ~]$ ls -lZAn
total 8424
-rw-------. 1
