Hey,
I am new to Linux, and I am caught up in an issue with Samba. I have two
computers. One is a Win XP Pro and the other is Fedora Core 1 sharing a
cable modem connection via a D-Link Router. With these to computers I
want to be able to share files in-between the two of us. With samba I
can see my XP computer with no problems. I just have to type in a user
name and password. My problem comes in

A few odd problems after server migration
Hey guys... I've been beating my brains out trying to determine the
cause of this problem, read tons of stuff online but have not been
able to make any headway.
My RH9 server bit the dust and I had to completely rebuild it. Built
it as a Fedora Core 2 server running Samba version 3.0.3-5 and
re-imported my old smb.conf file, smbpasswd file and such.
Re-created my share and gave it 777

Samba Server as WINS Server
Hi all,
I am new to Samba world.
May be I am asking the question immaturely.
I have a Linux Samba server. It has two interfaces
192.168.1. and 192.168.10.
I want to use it as WINS Server.
I have configuration like this

Network on one side is 10. and other it is 1. .
Now I want to see machines on one side from the other and vice

samba pdc winbind
( could not post complete reply, message too large?)
I think that's why I have a lot of black screens on the clients.
Here debian pdc smb.conf:
root at fai:~# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options (perhaps too
# many!)

Win2k and PDC logon.
Dear Samba Experts.
I an quite new to samba but know the basics of creating chares and
permissions, I think!!! Been digging into HOWTO for pdc logon using
windows boxes.
Having great difficulty in getting win2k to complete and logon to a samba
2.2.5 PDC configuration. Win98 is ok and runs the logon scripts as
required. I have attached the smb.conf used and can confirm the directory

samba crashing on startup
hi,
i've been trying for like two weeks to figure out why samba doesn't run
properly. from the logs it looks like smbd will start followed by nmbd.
then nmbd will exit for no apparent reason. i'm able to start samba
manually with the command '/etc/init.d/samba start'. right now i'm
assuming nmbd is the reason why samba doesn't load. i'm running samba

Logon to SAMBA
Hi,
I have installed the samba-1.9.17p3 on our
Solaris 2.5.1 (named 'dor-ent1') and Linux (named 'iserver').
They work when I test out 'smbclient -L dor-ent1' from
Linux machine and vice-versa. I also can map the directories
on 'dor-ent1' or 'iserver' to my win95 machine using:
'net use * \\dor-ent1\tmp'.

wins support = yes time server = yes
When I set:
wins support = yes
time server = yes
my wins service stops working and no computers show up in the network
neighborhood..as soon as I change time server = no, they start to
re-populate.
I have looked around and havent found a definitive answer (apologies if I
overlooked it)...
but if someone could tell me if this is a documented issue, or just me that
woudl be great
Thanks

smbpasswd -j joins wrong domain?
I am having a hell of a time getting a group of Samba servers working
together as a domain. My desired setup is to have one Samba PDC (LION)
in control of the ANIMALS domain and then have the other Samba file
server (HYDRA) join ANIMALS.
Simple enough. My smb.conf files are attached. I have added a HYDRA$
machine account to LION per the usual directions. I then follow the
simple directions

Samba is screwed up
I have set up a Samba server (Version 3.0.10-1.fc2) on a Fedora 2 box,
but it appears to always be allowing anonymous login now and when I
try to log in with a valid user it keeps telling me the login failed.
Can someone tell me why this is
happening and also, why are authorized users not able to log in?
Here's the content of my smbusers file:
